Not at all...a warning to backup before a reg change can never be said enough....besides...I think you explained it a bit clearer....I tend to tumble over my words at times in my posts!!

Adrynalyne, I downloaded your dialer skin patch and it's great. I have a question, though. When I make a call and it connects, everything goes blank and it says "call connected". I know that I can get rid of that by sliding my finger down the screen, but is it possible to get rid of that message screen altogether? Or do I just have to live with it?

Thats pocketshield doing that.

You can disable that by going into Pocketshield settings, phone, and uncheck Lock screen while talking.

My Omnia froze up yesterday, and Verizon's solution was to simply replace it. If you want the specifics, you can read my blogpost on the issue.

Instead of crying about it, I'm just going to view it as an opportunity to streamline my hacks and mods. We'll also see if Zagg's replacement policies are as great as everybody's been saying.

So anyway, I was going to shoot a PM to Adrynalyne, since he seems to be the king of solutions on this thread (I guess I shouldn't assume you're a "he," but I've never met a female as into tech as Adrynalyne seems to be so....).

I figured the answers would be helpful to everyone, so I decided on a post instead. So here goes:

Adrynalyne,

1. What's your RegEdit prog of choice? I was using Total Commander and really like it, but I thought I'd see what you're using before reinstalling.

2. Do you use a third-party interface like TouchFlo or SPB (it seems to me that you're using Today 2, but I thought I'd check).

3. Is PocketShield your screen lock of choice? I hadn't been using one, but am thinking about starting, just for the clock (since Today 2's clock is sooo freaking horrible). PocketShield and S2U2 seem to be the superior choices, but I'm not sure which I'll go with.

4. Do you use any program launchers or other plug-ins from your Today screen?

5. Do you know how to abolish the System Tray (tiny icons at bottom of screen) without simply "exiting" those running programs... I'm talking actually remove that tray (in order to increase screen real estate)?

6. What Contact Manager do you use? I was using PocketCM, and really liked what I was seeing (animations and functionality were great), but it didn't "default" as cleanly as I'd like it to.

Definately, a 'He'.

1. I prefer Resco Explorer w/ Registry Editor addon, with CeRegEditor as a close second.

2. Tried them all, but I keep going back to ST2. I like simplicity.

3. Definitely. I've been beta testing for them since 1.0, and its come an incredibly long way. For me, its more intuitive, and less bloated than S2U2. Light sensor unlock is huge for me. There is the added bonus of it enabling a bluetooth icon in the taskbar, too

4. I use HTC Quick Launch, with some modified icons from Heat79 of hofo. Simplisitic, and incredibly easy to configure via XML.

5. Not yet. Still looking for a way.

6. iContact.

If you don't mind a second opinion, not to step on Adrynalyne's toes, but I always find variety to be a good thing:

1-Hands-down RESCO!!!!

2- I use SPB Shell and it runs like a top on Omnia, plus you can skin it pretty easily with Imache's app!!!

3- I use S2U2, and I find it very useful as well. It doesn't have the light senstitve feature Adrynalyne likes, but it has full-screen caller ID, finger-friendly volume control, SMS + email preview, coupled with S2P (Slide to Play) you can listen + control music while the device is locked....the list goes on, plus...it is EXTREMELY customizable!!!!

4- If you use shell you don't really need any Today plug-ins, but Shell does come with a good one, and PocketPlus is a good one with many features included.

5- I found this, as I mentioned in 4, if you use Shell you don't need to worry about them, and I would only try this before you install to much:

For a Contact Manager: I use PocketCM, it works well on the Omnia, is customizable, and (like S2U2) constantly under development + fully supported.

As I mentioned, all of Adrynalyne's choices are good as well, but I figured I would offer other alternatives. If you need any more advice or sites for all of these, just drop a message and I am sure we can help you out!!!

I'm all for hearing alternatives. I try stuff ALL the time.

Its just this stuff I keep ending back at. Of course, I also keep in mind that my wife and five year old daughter need to be able to figure out how to use my phone, too

Adrynalyne....that tweak worked for you? If so, I'll move it to the first few posts!!

I know what you mean about making sure others in the family can use it, I find my 17 y/o son can't figure mine out at all, but my 14 y/o daughter can have it up + running in seconds!!!!
