PHM Registry editor must be flaky. I know that those files are accurate, because I exported them directly off my device from those locations. I stopped using it, Resco is truly amazing, and finger friendly.
Thanks!

How can an entry by itself under Notifications that just says "Default" and "Low battery warning" alter the behavior of the battery alarm? Does the text string "Low battery warning" trigger something?

Also just to be clear:

There are TWO entries that say "Default" within the Notifications tree. One looks like a little yellow file and when I look into it I see:

Duration
LedRefCount
Options
Wave

The other one says "Default" but has a little white "ab" symbol next to it. It does not have any contents unless I try to edit it in which case I see the "Low battery warning" text that I just put into the value data box.

I'll look into Resco.

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Screenshot? There should be only one Default value, interesting there are two.

This in itself does not alter the behavior...it allows you to go into your notification settings in the system (same place to change the ringer), and modify settings there.

I turn it off altogether, because I don't need my Omnia whining at me at 40% battery life. It still notifies you when you hit 20% or so.

I believe you can. I would love to find where they are stored in the device. The only thing that may get in the way of it is that I am assuming they are stored in the ROM, so replacing or adding to them may not be as easy as other apps we install!!

Worth looking into though!!!

P.S. If anyone else is interested I am following an interresting little thread over at Modeco about an app to allow easy on/off of a lot of these reg tweaks we are talking about in here. I will post it over here as well, but I don't think it is 'proven' yet, so if you try it out, please be careful!!!!

Cool, maybe I can dissect it and find out why my cab file won't work. I've been making one so people don't have to enter the registry. But, it doesn't install

If your a member over there maybe you can get in touch with the author and share tweaks to make a more complete app!! I think it is a great idea for people that don't know about or don't want to risk playing with the reg settings!!! (an on/off setting is fantastic as well!!!! I have messed-up a reg setting or two in the past by forgetting a step/location/setting)

I don't want mine yelling at me for 40% either. That is what I'm trying to accomplish.
But I think there is some crucial information that I'm missing here.

Here is the "default" at the root of Notifications. This is the one I placed a value of "low battery":

If I expand Notifications I see "Default" again:

This other default has this inside it:

The only thing I see under Notifications that appears to relate to battery is this line:

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

The very last screenshot is where you need to add the String Value Default with the value iof Low Battery Warning. Please revert any other changes you made, like that first default key.

Got it.

But the scary thing is, I didn't add that white default. I think the ZIP file added it but I'm not sure. However, the value was blank so I put in a value of "Low Battery".
Delete it anyway?

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

No, just revert the changes. The zip file didn't add it. There are various default values in the registry, don't sweat it if you find extras in different places.

The safest thing to do is only modify the location in question and ignore the rest, unless you are a registry guru and understand its workings.
