Taskswitcher disabler.

Limited usefulness, I am sure, but here it is, regardless.

Uninstall and soft reset to get taskswitcher back.

I have spent a few hours on here trying to get help regarding the Low Battery issues. If my question has been answered could someone please point me in the correct direction. I used the reg edit so I can now view Low Battery in the Notifications. However I can't stand the alert. I created a wma to replace the lowbatt.wma. However I can't seem to figure out how to replace the file. I tried copy, import, etc. and I can't get the wma to replace. I am using Resco.

Thank You

My understanding is that will NOT be a winmo phone....it does look nice though.

I'm not sure that a .wma file will work. You need to replace the exact system file, which I'm pretty sure is a .wav file. So create your sound as a .wav, then use that file to replace the old (awful sounding and extremely loud) one.

Regarding your "low battery issues..." Is it that your battery dies quickly, or just the above referrenced sound thing? If your battery dies quickly, I would check a couple of things. Is your Bluetooth always on? Is your Wi-Fi always on? Are you using push for e-mail? How often does your phone sync with the Exchange Server?

All of these things will dramatically reduce your battery life.

my opera9 has quit working is there any way to reboot

syrguy1969 03-24-2009 01:35 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Just outright quit working altogether? Did you install any apps right before, or any tweaks at all? I am thinking there may be third-party interferance here. I am assuming you tried a soft-reset.

Let's try to find the problem without falling back on a hard reset!!

P.S. Do you use a backup app? If so, do you have a recent one when Opera WAS working?

SuperSixOne 03-24-2009 03:07 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

back up the reg file. i did that monday and this AM i tried opera and nothing. my files seem to be there and when i try to open it flashes up as to open then locks up the phone. i have reset a couple times with no change.

syrguy1969 03-24-2009 08:17 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Have you tried to move the Opera cache folder at all? Do you have a memmaid-type of app, to clean out the cache files? (That is a big possibility considering your description)

P.S. when I asked about having a backup, I was referring to a full device backup using an app like SPB Backup, RESCO.....

SuperSixOne 03-24-2009 09:26 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

no device back up. and it's very possible that i moved something. i was having trouble with memory alerts and asked a guy to help. he fixed the alert. he just broke my phone i guess. and as for the other not sure.

syrguy1969 03-24-2009 09:57 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Well....if you use Opera a lot, it compiles cache files like there is no tomorrow. You can open explorer and navigate to My Device > Application Data > Opera9 > cache and see what you have there. You can delete those files, that is your cache folder and if it gets too loaded down, it occupies a good chunk of memory and will slow your device to a crawl!!

If there has been a reg tweak gone wrong, or your friend can't tell you what he did/reverse it, the worst-case scenario is a hard reset, and all that means is starting with an out of the box phone. If I remember correctly, you may not be as set back as a lot of people in starting out with their phone (loading contacts, apps, tweaks......)!! MemMaid, or another cleaning app is great for keeping things running at peak performance as well!!

One thing I would do right now though is get SPB Backup and backup your PIM data right now. Then, as soon as your phone is running at 100% do a complete backup...they are worth their weight in gold, and Backup is one of the most invaluable apps you can have!!!

If you have any questions on what I have mentioned so far, or questions on the apps I have mentioned, just let me know!!!

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

The phone is fine other than the opera9. I asked and he said nothing was moved. so I'm at a loss. If I must hard reset will I have to reactivate the phone with my carrier?

It is a awesome phone. Hope I don't have to get another.

Thanks...

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

All a hard reset does s set the device back to stock settings. you won't have to reconnect or anything, all you will need to do is reinstall all the apps and tweaks you want on your Omnia. Did you check the folder I mentioned?

SuperSixOne 03-24-2009 11:01 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

I looked and it seemed ok cache= less than 1M, downloads= 5M, all other folders and files= less than 1M.

After reading a few post I felt secure and looked in the reg file and saw where the value on opera was 0 in some files that looked like they may matter.

I just haven't a clue. So help me bro!

Hide Today Plugin Separators (lines).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today. Create a new DWord key with name “HidePluginSeparators” and value 1.

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Make Samsung Today 2 moveable.

By default, ST2 is static, stuck at the top, and does not allow anything to be placed above it. If you want to move your own plugins above it, try this.

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\ Samsung Today 2

Change the type value to 4. Wait for about 30 seconds, and soft reset. Then you can move it around in the Today Items screen.

Observe.

So after doing every reg edit and mod I could find to perfect my phone, I start playing around with the etiquette feature and realize it's not working. Last night I hard reset and began the process of reloading everything back onto the phone. The Samsung Volume Control is the culprit. If anyone has an idea how to fix this please comment, I love this volume control but I want to use the etiquette feature. Why is it we find the perfect program, only to realize it screws up another favorite program.:(

As usually, you rule Adrynalyne. This is definitely getting Today 2 much closer to the perfect home screen. Any news yet on resizing that gigantic, horrible clock?

Also, what are you using for your other stuff on your Today 2 screen (looks like some sort of program launcher at the bottom)?

Another screen real estate question: I believe there is a Reg Edit to remove the system tray at the bottom of the today two screen. I remember someone mentioning it in a post a while back, but I though "I'll never need that." Now I'd really love to recover that .25" of space at the bottom of my screen, but I can't find the post! Any information for removing that little icon tray?

Adrynalyne 03-26-2009 12:59 PM

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

I'll keep an eye out for that reghack. I know how to kill the soft menu at the bottom, but not the icon thingy.

As for the clock, the spacing is static. I cannot regain that space that its taking up. When I try, crud overlaps other crud.

The launcher at the bottom is the HTC Quicklauncher. I believe there is a link a few pages or so back. Let me know if you do not see it.

Autoshutoff Hacks

Is there an all inclusive hack/cab that addresses all of the autoshutoff features that comes with the Verizon version of the Omnia? My phone is useless from 20% battery to 0%. I know I have seen these in various places but nothing together in one spot. Thanks for all you do and the effort it takes to keep us all running. You guys Rock.:headbang:

Thanks, Bob

Yeah--I've been doing some homework. Apparently the new Volume Control, is invoked by a new version of the G-sensor. This new G-sensor sucks eggs, not allowing four way rotation and broken etiquette mode. However, the volumecontrol.dll is the actual application. So I figured I would modify the cab and play with it a bit.

Edit: No joy. SVC requires the new acc_sensor. So while its not SVC as the culprit, it might as well be, considering you cannot have one without the other.

Re: Omnia Hacks / Tips / Tricks

Thanks for the response and the attempt to fix. Looks like I will have to live without that one, maybe I'll look into the S2U2 volume control or setvolume. I am enjoying the four way rotation and the etiquette mode, so it's not a huge loss. Thanks again!

I think it will compliment your black theme. When you get it installed let me know if you can find a way to map it to the hard volume keys. It works for me if I manually open the program, once opened it works with the volume keys. I tried to add a shortcut in the startup menu but it doesn't load properly, the screen becomes garbled and the program is non functional. If I delete the shortcut and soft reset the problem goes away but again I have to manually open the program.
Thanks again.

Adrynalyne, maybe you can help me. I am a complete novice to all of this, but my problem is that annoying dialer lock on my omnia i910. I followed your link to the download of the dialer patch and don't know how to download it onto my phone. When I plugged the phone to my computer and tried to save your program, there was no option for the phone in any category (My Computer, My Documents, etc.) So my question is how do you suggest that I proceed at this point. You are obviously brilliant at this stuff and you have succeeded in doing it yourself. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
