+1 for the review.
No problem!

The learning curve isn't really that steep. If they can use an Iphone, they can use this. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out most of the functionality but if you read through the manual it's pretty straightforward and helpful. It's easy to setup email if you have a google account already. You just type in your username and password and it does the rest. From that point it's just customizing it however you want.

You can also sync with outlook as well which is a bonus. Since getting my phone I've converted all my contacts and calendars to gmail and I couldn't be happier. Every time I make a change on my PC or phone it syncs to the other. So if I add an entry in google calendar, it will automatically sync to my phone's calendar and same with contacts. I guess this is what they call cloud computing...

Also, I forgot to mention in my review, it has a optical trackpad, which is kinda sensitive and there isn't really a way to modify that. But once you use it for awhile, you get use to it. I honestly don't use it that much cause of the touch screen. I mainly use it when surfing and I need to click on a tiny link or something. I'm actually glad it doesn't have a ball mouse cause I've heard they can get filthy dirty and could see possible problems down the line.

Re: Samsung Moment

+1 Moment thread / sub forum please.

Had the Hero for a couple weeks before realizing I could not live without a keyboard, just a couple things I have found.

1. It is faster than the Hero, I find scrolling pages is much smother.
2. I like the optical pad better than the trackball, the trackball on the Hero just felt to loose / cheap.
3. Screen is beautiful, as other reviews have said it does tend to be a little too blue and my biggest gripe is even fully dimmed its to bright for me at night. Also when dimmed it makes white's and lighter colors really gray looking.

Now if we can just get this thing rooted I will not miss my Touch Pro in the least

X2

And I have to add, I started this year out with a Mighty ROM'd TP which I had owned since the TP's release, then switched to a Palm Pre when it was released, and recently traded up to a Hero (due to Gmail connect issues on Pre), and on the 1st of November traded up to a Moment (due to lag and voicemail issues on Hero) and I love it. This is probably the best device I've ever had. No crappy slider (see TP), no software issues (see TP, Pre and Hero)...hands down this is a badass device!

Re: Samsung Moment

Key feature requirement: Does it have Internet connection sharing via Sprint network (not PAM)?

Thanks,

Hardware: Solid. Feels solid. It is heavy but I kind of like that. The keyboard will take some getting used to coming from a HTC Touch Pro but I like it nonetheless. I like how it has a dedicated search button. Screen is AH-maze-ing. All I gotta say. It's fast...fast...fast. Some people may not prefer a vanilla OS but I prefer it that way. It works a lot better and you can customize how you want it.

Software: Like I was saying above, I like the vanilla OS. Coming from an HTC Touch Pro, it's like a breathe of fresh air. I'm over the whole looks nice but works like crap thing. Which is what I think the Hero is. It may look cool but I'm looking for functionality and stability when it comes down to it. The sense UI just bogs down the phone which already has a slower processor (on the hero). Most of the time people just disable it anyways. The onscreen keyboard is frustrating but usable. This is THE main reason why I went with the Moment instead of the Hero. The word prediction and auto completion is a nice feature. This feature on the Touch Pro was painful at best. It bogged down the phone and made it lag something fierce.

Battery life is leaps and bounds better than the HTC Touch pro. Just for reference. I have been streaming live radio on my phone since 7am this morning. Have done some light surfing and texting. It is now 9am and I still have about 3/4 battery left. I can't explain how stoked I am about that... I streamed live radio on the TP and it wouldn't last 2 hours and you could cook eggs on that thing.

It may seem like I'm bashing on HTC because I am. I don't think I'll ever buy another HTC phone. The build quality was terrible on the TP. I went through 3 of them things. The keyboard stopped working on the first 2. I take really good care of my phones and don't ever drop them so I know it wasn't me. It seemed like a lot of people had defective hardware. Where is the quality control!? I feel like HTC is spread way to thin and are releasing sooooo many phones, they don't really put in the time or effort to make a really solid product, but that's just my humble opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

Anyways, I loooooooooooooove the moment. I couldn't be happier. I honestly don't care if Sprint doesn't release an update to donut or 2.0 because the phone works so well now. I will probably update if they do come out but it's not like I'm scouring the internet waiting for any kind of firmware update or fix like I was with the TP.
I just bought a moment but all the programs run in the background which drains my battery, and I have not figured out howt fix it. can some one help please.

Check out "TaskPanel" - it's free, and you can put apps into a "wanted list" which are killed every hour. (For some reason NFL Mobile kept springing to life on mine - widget removed and all)

I've also heard that by disabling gps you can notice some savings...i haven't figured out the battery life on these things yet.
