Re: Does Sprint offer the Moment as a replacement for the Touch Pro?

I think I went through 4 or 5 Touch Pros when they first came out. Two were perfect until after a few weeks and then hardware keyboard stopped working. One was shipped with a defective screen. One had the bezel around the screen cracked when I received it, and it fell apart on me within a few weeks. And I think I had another that the Send (Talk) button stopped working on.

I love my Touch Pro 2 and haven't had one hardware related problem with it. But to be honest, I am about 90% sure that I will be retiring that for at least a little while for my new Moment. I really like Android, more than I ever thought that I would. The keyboard is not as good on the Samsung as it is on the HTC, which really is my only reservation, but I am willing to take what I get and enjoy Android.

The Moment is a better than the HTC Hero. Not only cause of the keyboard but its faster (800mhz processor).

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.5(Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/16643; U; en) HTC_Touch_Pro2)

I gotta wonder what you folks did to you TP1s. I had mine for over a year before any problems. Then one day the talk button wasn't working 100%. Suffered that for a few weeks and then the keyboard went out. Suffered that until I came to terms that my fingers were too fat for the touchscreen keyboard.

Finally, I took my phone in for service on 12/23 and they said sorry for your trouble we'll have a TP2 on the way for you, no charge. Don't think they even asked if I dropped it or anything. The very next day my TP2 was in the store. Granted, they never told me it was. I just showed up and asked (on 12/30 ironically enough) if it was in.

Been in love with it ever since just like with my TP1.

(fyi i came here looking for info on the moment bc my wife may want one. but ill likely push her to get the TP2. well see...she never listens to me anyway...)

Re: Does Sprint offer the Moment as a replacement for the Touch Pro?

Talk to Asurion. I had the Touch Diamond, which IMO was the worst phone ever created. I told them i needed a reliable phone for my business, and i needed it NOW. So i asked about the Moment. They sent me to a supervisor and i explained the problems with the Diamond, and about how alot of people have the same issues. Told them i needed a reliable phone preferrably with a keyboard. And I told the super that i mentioned the Moment. He said no problem sir, sorry about all your trouble. We'll get that right out. I was shocked actually cause usually Asurion sucks something awful.

Re: Does Sprint offer the Moment as a replacement for the Touch Pro?

I got my TP replaced with a Samsung Moment for free. This is after i returned the TP "3" times within a couple of months due to hardware failures. The manager said i could pick a comparable phone and he would swap it out. He wouldn't however give me a TP2 as a replacement because he said it wasn't on the list of authorized phone's to trade out. Hope this help's. BTW i have 5 lines of service and spend a lot every month on my bill, that might have helped my situation.

Did you have to pay for Asurion to replace?

Re: Does Sprint offer the Moment as a replacement for the Touch Pro?

I went to a local Sprint Repair shop, because my Touch Pro kept messing up. They offered me a brand new HTC Touch Pro at no cost. Or you could get a Touch Pro 2 or Samsung Moment for $75. I don't know if it's the same everywhere else. Hope this may help

Re: Does Sprint offer the Moment as a replacement for the Touch Pro?

Lol, I had the Vogue, which was nice, but I wanted a keyboard. So my bro-in-law gave me his TP, which he had gotten angry and literally crunched the screen. Touch part worked fine still. And that was after it had been launched around several times due to anger issues, plus, he's a fireman, so it was probably melted somewhere. Casing was cracked, speaker cogged with gunk. I wiped it, used some programs to really clear it up....worked flawlessly until I upgraded to the moment after about 8 months. I think those of us who got the TP's that worked actually got the defective ones.

Re: Does Sprint offer the Moment as a replacement for the Touch Pro?

First off all these negative comments about Sprint are strange to me! as a business user I called them up told them I was having problems again and asked if I could upgrade to the moment, no questions asked they said sure and within 20 min had my phone and on my way. I find working with Sprint to be a pleasure on most occasions.

I went through 2 touch pros, then decided to jump on the android wagon with the moment. I always had problems using the TP (and I am a windows mobile developer!). There were just quirks that should have never been there for a machine of that caliber.

Well I gotta say there are some growing pains switching to android. But the moment is so much more refined. Everything works as advertised. No more stupid head phone adapter (that was the worst idea on the planet). There are some negatives, it seems that google is really trying to get everyone on it's cloud. I really like to be in control of where all my data sits and don't care to use online storage. However unfortunatly you will need to use gmail to sync calender and contacts with your outlook unless you have an exchange server. And there is a definite lack of software that syncs to my computer without using more online storage. What I've come down to is to use Documents to Go and store all my information in secure documents that I can manually sync when I plug in the phone. On the Touch Pro I had outline based notes applications that would sync everything with a desktop application to store all my information. It's just a different way of doing things that I will probably get used to. So just be prepared if you have a lot of personal/business information that you sync with your desktop on WinMo you will either need to embrace the cloud or do what I did with a more manual solution.

All this has a plus side it has driven me to begin to investigate development for android...
