Re: How to: Replace WM Splash/Boot Screen

Ok I have a problem. I tried to make this my boot screen( see thumbnail). i got the image and changed it to a png file. then i renamed the file to welcomehead.96.png . i opened my file explorer and put it in windows directory.... nothing. then i put it in the windows/startup folder. Big mistake. now i cant delete it and when i soft reset, it goes through its motions and the final result is the image on my core media player. Help. Which file in windows do i put it in, and how do i delete this from startup menu?
EDIT: Ok whew. I was able to delete it from my start up menu but i still cant get this splash screen to open so the first question still stands. What am i doing wrong.

Did you rename it on your computer? If so, remove the extra .png on the file name. You probably have 'hide extensions for known file types' enabled on your computer, which changed the name of the file, not the .png part.

Re: How to: Replace WM Splash/Boot Screen

im a bit confused. what extra png on file name? file name is welcomehead.96.png. are u saying to change the name to welcomehead.96 and file will autmatically put in the .png?
EDIT: Ok you were right. it worked. thanks so much. i was pulling my hair out.

CyberMonkey, great work btw on your gif images. I was wondering if you could make a gif file for me that would precede my splash screen. My splash screen is the one with the lightning coming down from an ominous sky splitting through a large tree ( I posted a screen shot earlier in this thread at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=148&page=20). I thought it would be a cool fx if after the initial boot screen, the animation consists of an ominous, churning sky with lightning building up within the dark clouds then BAM......my splash screen turns on with the lightning strike coming down. Just an idea. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
EDIT: actually the screen shot is on the same page as this one.
