Re: Touch pro 2 vs Droid
IMHO it would look so much better if they ditched the gold like sprint did with the Hero..... look at this....
What interests me is that is has a much better CPU than the Touch Pro 2, a seperate GPU and the drivers to use it.... this has been a huge problem for current HTC devices **cough**cough** cept Hero... **cough**cough** And performance should be sweet on the Droid... but im not a fan of the standard Android UI... Im spoiled by HTC Sense and all the modified basic apps. So HTC Dragon for me BUT.... the Touch Pro 2 has over the Droid -I like the screen better cuz its nice and wide as well as long, the Droid's screen looks skinny yet long and thats a turnoff for me -better Keyboard, no contest HTC wins |

Re: Touch pro 2 vs Droid
if i was on verizon or if sprint had the droid....
i would have and be all over the droid (no tp2)...no question ask..that a device i can see myself keeping over the period of a contract..w/o selling... it reminds me of the gsm nokia n900...beast..!! as far as look of the Droid...it is what it is.!!

Re: Touch pro 2 vs Droid
After waiting for weeks for the TP2 to get back in stock (and seeing it was in stock yesterday only briefly and now is back out again, ugh), I am going to try to get the Droid and give it a good test run and then switch to the TP2 if I don't care for it.
I have used the xv6700 (HTC Apache), Samsung SCH-i760, and xv6800 (HTC Titan), so I have plenty of experience with windows mobile. I am still working to warm up to the appearance of the Droid - it's very manly and boxy looking -not sleek and sexy like the TP2. But it's very slowly growing on me. What makes the decision is the fast CPU performance, bundled 16 GB of memory, and open-source nature of Android. The camera is also better and it looks like it is VERY solidly constructed, with a metal chassis - Built to last. If you look at the history of Windows Mobile, their development cycles are slow, and geared more toward PDA/stylus than phone. Windows Mobile 6.5 is better (tried a kitchen on my 6800), but it still has a ways to go. For example, I need phonealarm or another third party app just to get a reminder when I miss a call. Fail. If you get the TP2 you get Windows Mobile 6.5 but will probably be stuck with that. You may be able to get a ROM from our buddies around here (PPCGeeks) for Android.... I see Android being a very exciting OS with unlimited possibilities. There are already some very neat apps floating around. I especially was fascinated by the bar code scanner app... So the way I look at it, within 30 days of using the Droid I will know if I can live without winmo. I've already compiled my list of what I need to find a replacement for that I could do with Winmo, and so far it looks like Android already 'has an app for that' (sorry, couldn't resist, hah). Now if I can just make it through this week... Hah... Last edited by joelseph; 11-01-2009 at 07:02 PM. |

Re: Touch pro 2 vs Droid
And I'm pretty sure I'm going to do my own software tour on youtube once I get the Droid. All the ones currently out there seem HORRIBLE. Does anyone know of a review that actually covers the most used features? All you see is the camera app and setting wallpapers. Bleh... What about messaging?! I still don't know what the Android 2.0 messaging app looks like. Anyone know of a good in-depth tour vid that actually covers the bases? There are plenty for the TP2.

Re: Touch pro 2 vs Droid
I am on the same fence as you... I actually started a poll to ask this question in the droid forum (maybe it needs to be moved)...
neways... I honestly am not impressed with the stats for the TP2 knowing that there are faster and better HTC phones in the pipeline already. I am running winmo6.5 bbs rom on my titan and enjoying the experience - but it is a little late to market imho - 6.1 was still very much stylis driven again imho - 6.5 is now finger driven but shouldn't it have been so 2 years ago? neways in the end I am gonna give the droid a go - and if before the 30 day trial is up vzw releases something better with winmo maybe I will switch - but I have a feeling I am going to end up staying with droid - we will see - |
