Re: what made you choose the Touch Diamond over the Pro

Personally, I'm still in the air as to whether I want to keep my Diamond or exchange for the Pro. I have til' late November to decide since they sent me confirmation stating that even when I exit my 30 days I would be able to exchange it for the Pro anyways due to the issues I was having with my Diamond. I love the the thin feel of the Diamond. I haven't gotten used to the onscreen keyboard, but maybe trying different keyboards may actually help out. I have an 80 GB IPod and I have barely used a GB of my Diamond memory so thats no issue for me. I guess it just depends on HOW thick the Pro will be.

Re: what made you choose the Touch Diamond over the Pro

I'm no fan of physical keyboard but it would be nice for playing my emulator games. Touich and Diamond have too few buttons. What bug me most now are:

1. Does Touch pro have a better memory allocation than Diamond? I'm talking about only 91MB for phone storage, which would easily be filled by less than 15 apps; while maintaining 120ish Mb Program memory which I don't know is for what purpose.

2. Is the thickness difference larger than that between mogul and touch? AFAIR, it was said to be 3mm, but if it's larger than Touch/Mogul I might not consider it. When I switched from mogul to Touch, I was totally impressed by the "thinness" while not complaining about losing those buttons.

3. The other thing I don't like about not having sd slot is, now you have to back up the entire internal storage. I beleive if you hardset the diamond, everything would be wiped out including the storage right?

From what i know, a hard reset does NOT wipe out the internal storage. Can someone confirm? Unfortunately due to the acrobatics involved with performing a hard reset, i dont have enough hands to pull it off..lol

Re: what made you choose the Touch Diamond over the Pro

i can confirm the 4 gigs of internal memory are not erased on a hard reset. you actually have to go into settings and erase the memory on your own. i really like the phone, but i am still going to get the pro due to the sd card. i am not a big fan of the keyboard since i have had the touch and gotten used to the on screen kb. but am on my 3rd diamond since sept 17th. i don't mind replacing the phone with it being new i do expect some glitches, but everytime they had to replace it i had to teach the tech how to erase the internal memory. that is why i need the sd card. i like to take the card out so none of the pics or anthing gets out for everyone to see or read. just my paranoia i guess, but the diamond is a great phone and i suspect it will be better with a new rom upgrade

You like bigger phones? The size of the Diamond is one of the reasons I will probably end up keeping it. I guess to each his own.

that is correct, it will not wipe out internal storage unless you set it to clear both internal storage and memory. It is just like having a memory card inside that you cannot take out but will not be affected.

LOL... I am 6'3" and 270 lbs. and have large hands as well, but I love this Diamond for its small and slim form factor. I thought the Mogul was a friggin' brick. It was the ultimate theft detterant system... and i was so glad to get rid of it.

But hey, to each their own.

Re: what made you choose the Touch Diamond over the Pro

OK, one concern for diamond solved.
How about the memory allocation? Diamond has this stupid 90MB storage VS 200MB program ratio while most of the software are installed in the "storage" portion, I mean both the pre-installed junkies and some of the apps we add later on.
