reasons to upgrade my Titan to the Touch Pro!

so my Titan has been getting on my nerves. i rarely ever use it for anything other then making calls, texts, and wmwifirouter.

im on my second mogul and the memory is just killing me! sprint is releasing their Touch Pro in Oct and i need more excuses to tell Sprint to upgrade me to a Touch Pro. i'll even extend my contract if thats what it takes, but my current one doesnt expire until June 09.

this could also serve as reference for other users too

so what should i tell them?

PS. i'll update this thread accordingly and i am currently using DCD 2.1

Reasons:

1. Memory issue makes phone almost unusable after opening a couple apps
2. Lack of basic features such as Sprint TV and MMS
3. Insurance claim
4. White spots due to bad ROM flash (kind of dishonest, but yea....)

Insurance claim? Try seeing if it will work when they release it.

unfortunately, i did not purchase the insurance. i did manage to have them replace my Titan when the call button stopped registering for $35 from a local repair center.

Re: reasons to upgrade my Titan to the Touch Pro!

Buy the insurance, now. Wait a couple of months. You'll build up some equity in their minds re: the insurance, and you'll be closer to the end of your contract & therefore have more bargaining power.

Complain about the white spot on your Titan (I think just about all the screens have it.) Complain about it crashing & white screening. Of course, intentionally screwing up a ROM install will do this, not that you'd do anything that dishonest. *wink*

The downside is that they'll likely just give you a refurbished Titan or a new one. Why would they give you a more expensive phone to replace a theoretically inferior one they still carry? I think you'd have better luck after they quit carrying the Titan.

like i said, im not expecting them to just hand me a Touch Pro. i am willing to extend my contract if thats what it takes. honestly, you pretty much HAVE to flash it to have it run half way decent. as for screwing up a ROM install, isnt there a way they can check this type of stuff?

i know i didnt flash my first one back when i got it swapped for my 2nd mogul.

Probably so, but I returned at least 3 titans with kitchen roms, and they never complained. I think they must just go to the refurbishing company & get all thrown together. Afterall, from a logistics point of view, it'd be a nightmare to trouble shoot each phone to make sure the customer wasn't at fault.

I used to work for a cell phone wholesaler who sold phones to many of the "mom & pop" cell phone stores in the South East U.S. I worked in the "product reclamation" department & we did exactly what you & I are talking about.

The ONLY things we did to make sure the customer wasn't at fault were
a) check usage to make sure they've actually used the thing & that they hadn't used too many minutes. Some folks return phones without ever using them for various reasons... these phones were returned to the customers.
b) make sure the serial numbers matched the phones sold to the customers
c) make sure the batteries were OEM and matched the phones
d) make sure they were still under warranty...

That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. If a phone wouldn't turn on, we didn't have the ability to check usage. You're talking about a facility that literally receives in hundreds or thousands of phones per week. It'd be a HUGE investment in time to actually catch the one or two percent of us who cook our own roms with little or no payoff for the company.

No matter what you do, I wish you luck. If you do end up with a super-phone, let us know what you think of it & how you pulled it off.
