Re: Vogue Users: Opinion on Samsung Instinct?
I'm planning on giving the instinct a shot. I've realized that there are few times that I do not have my laptop with me and therefore, my cellphone really just needs to be a cell phone. So the instinct might be my answer. I will probably keep my Touch though for travelling and such.

Re: Vogue Users: Opinion on Samsung Instinct?
The Instict will be for those that want a SICK phone but dont have the time or ability to cutomize like the Touch.
For us, computer GEEKS, we need a computer phone. For those that are a little less litterate about computers than us, might want to stick to an Instict. I know my wife and my brother, and my wife's cousin will be getting one. My brother has a Touch but its too much for him, my wife has a Smartphone but its a little more than she needs also. My wife's cousin was thinking about getting a Touch but now that we told him about the Instict, he will be going with it because non of them have the time or patience to learn how to edit registries, install cabs, customize applications, troubleshoot ppc's, etc. My two cents. Me for one, CANNOT leave my pocket pc device. I am too hooked on computers to switch over to a closed end phone. I gotta be able to tinker around and keep my addiction on the edge. |

Not even an option for me. If you have ever had a A900 or other Samsung phone that wasn't windows mobile you know it will be closed. Only option for me will be WM7, Android, or fully open iPhone OSX platform.

Re: Vogue Users: Opinion on Samsung Instinct?
I'd pass on the instinct. If you look at the videos online you'll see it's mostly hype. There's one video where the guy goes to demo the GPS app and it takes so long to load they had to cut out the part where they are sitting in limbo waiting for it to load.
Also the interface looks sweet like the fruitphone but the transitions leave a lot to be desired. Unless they are still updating the software to better the device I say pass. Not to mention I saw no indication of what type of OS it's running. This is where I love WinMo. There's a countless supply of software I can install. And if you are a true PPCGEEK. I doubt you'll enjoy a device that you can't tinker with only to have the pleasure of messing something up so you have an excuse to finally flash it with some fancy custom roms. |

Re: Vogue Users: Opinion on Samsung Instinct?
So here's the thing. I just got a Touch & made the move from POS to WM. Never did anything on my Treo, couldn't really tell you why (other than i hadn't found PPG yet...). Looking at a new phone for my wife, trying to find an iClone for Sprint. This looks really nice until I realized that with WinMo, I can get a new skin any time I want. Bingo - new phone. Don't know if that'll keep her moving to Touch, but it will prolly keep me from bailin' out of my Touch anytime soon. Besides, I want to see the nextgen Touches have to offer...
