Re: Dear TP2... I don't love you anymore...
To everyone whos ever built a rom or disovered a fix or who helped me here in the past with my tp2, my apologies. This post was not meant as an insult to you or your work and Im sorry if you took it that way. Thank you for your work and your help.
But to those here who still think their tp2 is some sort of wonder device and take any criticism of it as personal insult, I say expand your worldview. Put the phone down for a while and go discover the wonders of the real world where people dont define their own or others self worth by the electronic devices in their pockets. Re: Dear TP2... I don't love you anymore...
I sense a lot of panties are in a twist in this thread...I shall move on
But each person is entitled to their own opinion of their device, if you don't like then RESPECTFULLY tell that person your own opinion of your device. Personally I have had trouble with the TP2 2x before I got one that worked well while it lasted. If you don't have nothing nice to say, just not say it :P Or if you want to argue and hate on each other, PM one another so the rest of the community doesn't have to read all the BS to find helpful posts and we won't be laughing at you either. And if you don't like someone, I'm sure you can ignore them. |

Re: Dear TP2... I don't love you anymore...
When I saw this, I kind of felt the same, I was a little sad seeing my old Touch Pro 2 go away. It has been good to me for about 2 years till the display broke. So many good and bad times I had with this phone.
Just like other tech, life moves on and tech moves on, but, there is nothing wrong saying your good byes to a old piece of gear you spent almost every day with for the last 2 years (99.9% of the last 2 years) of my life with. I almost had a tear before I sent it away.

Re: Dear TP2... I don't love you anymore...
OK.. something I really don't get is people defending the TP2's call quality. Maybe they're talking about signal quality, but I'm thinking that would have A LOT more to do carrier and where you actually are more than the device itself. And yes I know Verizon's 4g LTE beats out AT&T's 4g for speed. But since both are significantly better than 3G, that not so much of an issue for me.
But if you're talking about actually how CLEAR a call sounds (or you sound to a caller) between the TP2 and several other MUCH CHEAPER phones, I can't see how you can't see the difference. I know a lot of people don't actually use their TP2 as a phone much, but if I want to call Great Grandma and wish her a happy birthday, she doesn't text or email, and I need a phone where my voice is as clear as possible |

Re: Dear TP2... I don't love you anymore...
I've been on my EVO for about a year, and there are things I miss about my TP2 -- SPB Phone Suite, profile manager. That was top-notch. I've used all kinds of "profile" managers with Android, and it never fails -- when running it, my phone will either ring when it shouldn't or won't ring when it should. Never happened with Phone Suite/Mobile Shell combo. Mobile Shell is out for Android, but no Phone Suite yet (take note SPB...?)
I still think the speakerphone was better than any phone that I have ever used. Better than most conference phones. No need for bluetooth in the car, just throw that bad boy on the seat next to you. When people scoffed at the EVO's battery life, us TP2 users were NOT surprised to learn that they used the same battery... I never had a WM phone that had decent battery life (PPC6700, Touch, TP2 -- all BAD). It just taught me to be close to a power adapter at all times. I do agree about the memory issue. It was solved by using a big SD card, and putting everything on there but try and take that beatch out -- pretty much screwed everything up. Right now it makes a great charger/alarm clock (there is still not an alarm clock better than SleepSense for WM). I wish my EVO would hot-swap a battery like a TP2 (power cord swapping battery without resetting). |
