Since my Treo days, I have loved and relished having a physical keyboard. Now that I have an Evo, I'm not of the mind that if I could get what I have with the Evo and a physical keyboard, I would.

The screen keyboards are good, but every one of them leaves something to be desired. If there was one that had all the features then it would be great, but I find myself moving from keyboard to keyboard trying to find all the features I had in a physical keyboard.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but back up often. If you plan on rooting, etc. Pick up a copy of Titanium Backup and pay for the paid version. The scheduling client doesn't always work, or at least i can't get it to work. Even when I have the application set to back up daily, it doesn't do it.

Sprite has a backup software for Android. it's what you'd expect from Sprite, it has bugs and they don't have very good support, but it's one of the viable solutions.

For whatever reason, the backup software for Android is just not very good.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

I do live in 4G area but my main reason was that I wanted to switch to sprint as my bill will now be $50 a month cheaper than with Verizon. So I was gonna make the switch anyway, the Evo was just the icing on the cake!!

Just also remember, Evos are out of stock in a lot of markets. Just make sure it's in stock where you are. I hear the wait is interminable.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

Oh I have one, just bought it yesterday morning. Found a Best Buy near me that had been holding one for a customer. Employee who was holding it had hid it in one of the lock-up cases. He just returned from vacation yesterday and it was still there so I lucked out.

Man, you have no idea how much you lucked out. Most of the locations in NYC that i've been to have all said that they're sold out and that's been the case for weeks.

It does wear off quickly, dosen't it.

The EVO is a VERY cool phone, no boubt, But I want more before I switch EVERYTHING over for the next year.

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

Well I watch a lot of movies through my phone with it plugged in to my tv so the HDMI out was a selling point. LED flash that I missed so much with my TP2, FM radio, HD recording, excellent camera and video recorder, capacitive screen, and so on were also all big selling points for me. That and the excellent Sprint service in my area(with some 4G) and saving over $50 a month on my bill. All added up to a no-brainer for me, of course others situations/needs will vary...

Re: Switching from TP2 to EVO

No complaints here, I thought the keyboard would be a deal breaker but it has been a smooth transition.
