I thought it had already been confirmed that HTC is making the 800w...

There was an article in DigiTimes awhile back saying that Palm (and some others, like iMate) were switching back to HTC for their OEMs. From their some how it was extropolated to mean "HTC is making the Treo 800w" and that meme has spread all over the boards. It's quite inaccurate though. Interetingly enough, the info was false about iMate--they never did switch and continue to develop their own devices. Even if true, the article was so vague as to make the info almost useless. It never mentioned the 800w and didn't say anything about a time line (e.g. "starting in 2009...HTC will...") so there is no way to know which, if any, devices they might be making. So from my point: there has never been any real evidence at all to suggest that Palm is using HTC. It could be true but I'm not very confident in the rumor at this point... Hmm.. Ok, if it turns out to be a good one, I might have to trade in my touch for a phone that actually wakes up for calls.

Don't mean to butt in here, but given the issues with the Mogul, i think that'd be a fair statement to make. I'm on my 2nd mogul after the vibrator went out on my first one.. now i've got white spots on the screen of not only this one, but every mogul i've had come through the door here at work... not to mention the USB plug issues and i know a few people have had issues with the IR port being super weak, etc etc etc.. Not trying to start an arguement, but i know when i had my treo 755, i had 2 or 3 of them before i got a decent one. As the phones get more complex, they're gonna have more issues, regardless of whose name is on the building they're put together in. just my 2 cents.. |
