Did I do something wrong? Well, obviously I did, I mean what did I do? How can I fix it or is a hard reset my only option?

tia!

It sounds like you didn't copy ALL the files from \Program Files\Palm Messaging over to \Windows.

You must "show all files" and there should be upwards of 13 files to copy including .dll files. If you even miss 1, you will get these errors.

No need for a hard reset. Just re-copy ALL the files in that directory to \Windows.

Nothing worked; I hard reset and reinstalled, making absolutely certain that all 13 files were present and that all 13 were copied to the proper folder. I went to the messaging app and the new sms threaded version was there; before I had a chance to test it, I noticed the "no service" icon lit on my today screen. Sure enough, when I tried to go to the phone app, same error appeared. I don't know if it's a conflict with another app, my service provider or my phone.

I bet I know why it's not working...

What's your phone? More specifically...what's your AKU version number?

Remember, this installation is for PRE-AKU 2.3 ONLY. If you have a later AKU and install this version, you'll have issues.

It can be installed on AKU2.3 or later devices, but the manual steps of copying over the rom files should not be followed in that case. The HowTo doc clearly states this at the very top of the file in shouting UPPERCASE text. :)

Just a quick question, I have beta 3 going right now and no errors aside from the already mentined, but what would be the difference in just copying over the one file or redoing the whole thing from scratch wiht beta 4? I already have the left soft key mapped with 3.
Cheers

Just installed the beta 4. No problems with app aside from what is listed.
Two things....
1. I didnt read all of my text messages before the install, so I am still showing 'Text Messages: 2 Unread', above the outlook notification on the today screen. I thought I saw somethin in the thread about this but couldn't find it. Is there a quick solution to fix that without Hard resetting and re-installing?
2. After the install, I thought I saw the left key remapped. If so...that's cool! BUT,,,I soft reset and the remapped key seems to have gone away.

installed it last night, got an error saying that it can not over write 2 files... did not make a list of files it could not write over, was in bed installing it before passing out. will see if it gives me errors.

Missed the pre-aku2.3 part; sorry, I'm a windows newbie and clearly not paying attention!

I've got a sprint 830i, so it isn't pre-aku; I never saw how-to instructions before the 11-4 version, so I was just following the clues from the posts in this thread! So according to your current instructions, just install normally, don't go through the extra steps of copying to /windows?

tia and thanks for not slamming me!! :D

Yup, that's all that should be needed! And no biggy on the mistake, we all make 'em.

that's all that was changed, so yeah you basically have "beta 4" now.
