Network Profile Default?

I tried and it says Out Of Memory.
Not enough memory to complete this operation. Please close some open windows and try again.

Wideawake 10-18-2006 07:30 PM

network profile is sprint :)

VW 10-18-2006 07:57 PM

I also have it installed and am receiving the OOM errors for MMS..and there doesnt seem to be a way to select Sprint for network profile.

enolamyecart 10-18-2006 08:03 PM

OK.....so I installed the cab file. I DID NOT do the registry edits and things seem to be working fine. Are the registry edits absolutely necessary? Also, the main reason for not doing the edits was that the instructions were somewhat confusing (only for the edits). Otherwise everything seems to be working ok. I did not have to do any changes to the carrier either. Maybe because I'd previously installed the MMS program that comes standard on the Verizon 6700.

Anyway, If i could get more details on the editing of the Registry, and the benefits of doing it, I will make the changes. BTW, i'm using Regedit.

Any Insights?

Pibe38 10-18-2006 08:16 PM

From the TXT file on the ZIP

Quote:

- Now you've done that, navigate using the registry editor to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc and rename the MMS1 key to MMS1.old, and the SMS key to SMS.old.

This will prevent the standard app displaying SMS and MMS.
What do you find confusing so we can help you out?

enolamyecart 10-18-2006 08:28 PM

I navigate through the registry(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE), I have the folders MMS and SMS not MMS1 and SMS1, as described in the instructions. Secondly, I am not sure that I know how to rename the folders. I have the option to 'NEW KEY', NEW VALUE, NEW DWORD, or NEW STRING. Not finding a 'rename' function. Should I use a better Registyr editor program? I am usin RegEditCe v1.2. THANKS!

I think is just you tap it one time it will let you rename..

yeah on network profile. Here is the list. Default, My ISP, My work, work, secure wap network, the wap network, the internet.

but if you rename your current connection sprint will appear but I cant get it to work. I'll soft reset and let you now.

dukenewt 10-18-2006 09:33 PM

Installed app, did reg edit. Everything seems fine, but I can't send text. I receive them just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

update:
Ok, narrowed it down a little. Straight sms goes out, only responses within thread not going through.. Any ideas?

Pibe38 10-18-2006 09:53 PM

There's a huge thread over at TreoCentral, many people having issues... I haven't installed this yet, I'm gonna wait for a while.

Wideawake 10-18-2006 11:05 PM

guys I'm having issues too....but give me some time tonight to look into and what's going on. I personally have a couple extra icons laying around and a few other issues.

You'll want to look here:

I'm reposting what I posted at XDA:

Quote:

Some of us are having issues. We CANNOT send an SMS to an email address. We get an error message:

"Could not send message. The message center number or the email center number is invalid. Please contact the wireless operator."

Now, in the SMS app, if you go to Menu --> Options --> Advanced tab

Network Configuration/Manual/Edit...

You'll see spots for "message center number" and "email center number" and both are blank. When you put in a number (such as found here: http://www.smsfre.com/SMS-Mesaging-Centers.htm ) they do not stick after hitting "OK".

Wideawake 10-18-2006 11:22 PM

Well do ;)

Pibe38 10-18-2006 11:29 PM

Mal did you post about messages sitting on the outbox after being already in a threaded conversation?

no not yet...good point:

If in a threaded convo with someone, right now it looks like when you "send" it goes to your Outbox and sits there for a long time (10 mins?) before it sends.

You can jump to the Outbox, open the message and Resend and it'll go instantly.

Not perfect but something.

Wideawake 10-19-2006 12:13 AM

Mala what all changes need to be made so far I have corrected the mms settings so they are automatically setup and got read of the double icons, added the messagecenternumber and what else do u know of that needs to be worked on/done?

Well, Sprint's SMS doesn't work very well with the 700wx due to that "upgrade" issue, so it's hard for me to do much testing e.g. sending SMS to anyone BEFORE installing the Palm app still caused errors!

So I guess:

- Can you send SMS to anyone?
- How quickly do they get it?
- Does MMS work with no errors?
- Do chat messages send instantly?

Wideawake 10-19-2006 12:51 AM

1. SMS sent fine.
2. Got the message like 2 secs later on my bros phone.
3. Havent tested as my bros asleep now.
4. Same as above, but Im gonna try and send them to my email addy to see if that works. and I will get back with yall.

Pibe38 10-19-2006 01:23 AM

Yeah I don't care much for MMS, my main issue is that while in a chat thread the messages get sent automatically and don't sit on the outbox.

Good to know.

Q: how did you put the message center number in? e.g. how did you format the number?

Let us know to other carriers as well, if possible.

Here is some more info:

In HKLM\Software\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\General there is a key for "Is GSM" and it's set to 1 by default.

Likewise, under HKLM\Software\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\MMS

MaxMsgSize
MaxVideoSize

HKLM\Software\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\General

UseVodaphoneVoicemail 1

So those are things that may need to be changed.

Formatted like this 17044100000. But I havent tested it, just know it sticks when entered to registry via the .cab I made. May need to add a + to the front of the number but Im not sure as of yet.....still testing and what not.

this maybe part of the problem and I will edit this.

these dont really need to change sprints server shrinks the video no matter what they are set too, so u just lose quality if u try to send a big file.

Not sure what this settings about...some playing is needed....

Im working tho guys as fast as I can and with few breaks here and there :D

Malatesta 10-19-2006 01:46 AM

HKLM\Software\Palm\Varnish\Messaging\MMS

MaxMsgSize
MaxVideoSize

So maybe change those from 307200 (300k?) to 4194304 (4mb?)

EDIT
: Just read your post above. Got it, this won't help.

Good, cause I'm done and going to bed!!!

I expect to wake up tomorrow and you'll have all of this resolved (including the Sprint network issue)

I had tested this on my apache for a member awhile back with the acrsoft. Changing of the video does allow u to attach the bigger file size but once it is sent to the sprint server it seems as if the file is compressed and loses quality. Im pretty sure this is what was happing as I tried to send a 1mb file instead of the 300kb and when I got the video it was 300kb but the same length as the orignal video but the quality of the video was crap! way less then the quality of the actually video I sent.

Malatesta 10-19-2006 02:09 AM

See, my messaging center number doesn't stick in the program or the registry after a soft reset. The email center DOES stick.

Either way, if I SMS to an email address I get this:

:?: :?: :?: :?:

Wideawake 10-19-2006 02:19 AM

I get this when trying to send the text to a email addy......but Im trying ot find a fix.... :D

right. if you do Manual/Edit under Options/Advance, you can specify that address: do you think it's sprin'ts email servers?

I put in that messaging center number and hence MY errror above.

I dunno.

Wideawake 10-19-2006 02:31 AM

Im not 100% sure its worth a shot and Im gonna try it....if I cant get this to work.......I guess a call to a Sprint Rep maybe needed.....so I will try and do that tomorrow and hopefully I find a Rep nice enough to release both of those to me :D

Wideawake 10-19-2006 03:24 AM

Woot Woot thanks to hannip over at xda for pointing out that smstrigger was not included in the first .cab so I went back and added it and now there is no more delay in the sending of sms messages! So everyone redownload the .cab in the first post which I have updated to fix the problem. :D

Major Edit:
when I tested it I was in a threaded convo with myself since no one I know is up at this hour. And as soon as I sent it went through.....I just tried another while not in a threaded sms and it is like u said I rushed into it without FULLY testing it ....but the .exe was taken from the ROM I extracted it myself and the reg edits are there. Im trying guys....dont give up on me. :D

takmsdsm 10-19-2006 12:46 PM

I also notice if you push the up or left arrow while in a threaded message, it throws you out of the program lol.

PS - Greetings from:
XDA-Developers.com
Pdaphonehome.com
Treocentral.com

im sure there are more sites following this just as closely. There should be a forum just for this where everyone from every site can work on it together.

akijikan 10-19-2006 02:12 PM

Wideawake? What's the story behind smstrigger.exe?

Are there any registry entries that need to be added after it's placed in the windows folder? I noticed I can't execute it either (get the beep).

EnJaNir 10-19-2006 02:57 PM

This is great news, however, I think I will just have to wait until it is working perfectly.

it's being confirmed by quite a few users now that SMStrigger prevents gwes.exe and device.exe errors from happening.

Now I never had those errors but some user were. Simply dropping smstrigger.exe into \windows alleviated this problem for them.
