If you use phonealarm I don't believe there is a way to get the notifications. Otherwise you should be able to go to start-settings sounds & notifications to change the sound file. On the Notifications tab select Event "Messaging: New Message (Palm" and then select a sound file to use. The cab install selects Treo Classic for the sound file. This is fine for treo's, but other devices will not have this file. You'll need to pick another.

So while you are in a chat window and get a new text in that same window you hear an audible alert? If so you are the first person to report it working with phonealarm. What version of PA are you using?

If I have aku 3.3 on my 6700 i just need to install the cab, right? No copying files to \windows?

*edit*, sorry bad question. if you have 2.3 or later, do not copy files. even though i do not have to copy them over, can i still delete \program files\Palm Messaging?

And to answer my q again, yes, if you have aku 2.3+, just install the cab then delete \program files\palm messaging. AFTER you soft reset and verify that it works. cheers!

no if I am in the chat window, I will not receive the audible alert. So what I do is each time I send a message, if I am not expecting any immediate response and/or anticipating a reply, I will minimise the messaging app so that I will be notify when new message arrives.

yes (and probably delete the palm messaging folder in \program files since they are of no value)

bear in mind that this software will render 2 feature in your aku3.3 unavailable. one is to read sms off from your sim card, and the other is ability to receive/send contacts via sms as vcard.

Thanks for the help on the audible notification. I was changing the sound file played through the registry and I still wasn't getting any notification unless the conversation was open... changed the sound from settings:notification and everything works fine.
