don't forget that whatever 6.5 rom you were using is getting better every day with every build, and when winmo6.5 officially comes out and winmo 7 not being too far off, you may have a different opinion on the matter. I've been using 23004 and I have seen the palm pre in action, and my 6.5 build is pretty comparable. There's no doubt that an official pre OS compared with a custom unofficial 6.5 build is going to run faster and more stable. But in a few months we'll see if you still feel this way.

Although I use a Diamond, so one hand texting and phone operation is so easy, especially with compact qwerty.

When they port the Hero UI (you know someone is going to) to winmo, you may just find yourself wishing you'd returned that phone and spent the 6 bills on a week-long spree of sushi.

I have two main gripes w/ wm65 in it's current state -
1) notifications just suck I loved my touch pro, but couldn't stand the way the notifications worked (even under spb mobile shell)
2) capacitive touchscreen. The resistive touchscreeen on the touch pro is ok.. I loved it.. but it feels so archaic now compared to the palm pre.

Don't get me wrong, I love wm.. and I might be back.. wm6 shows alot of potential, and taking a break from wm65 will allow that oS to hopefully mature.. we'll see who's on top in a year.

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

I have made the exact same switch. I miss the touch pro because of all the apps and tweaks that are out there. The learning curve for the Pre as far as hacking it up and customizing it is greater than that of windows mobile (click a cab file and voila),

These things will all come with time I believe. The overall UI and web experience of the Pre surpasses the TP.
My main gripes have been the lack of notification lights, also I wish the dialer was like windows mobile where i could just type the contact name out on the onscreen number-pad. Why slide out the keyboard when you don't have to...

I will likely be sticking with my Pre, im gonna have a hard-time leaving this awesome forum for Pre-Central. This place feels like home now lol

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

i have a touch pro ATM and going to switch to the Pre soon. I hope quality control is a little improved from the first few batches and since the Mojo SDK officialy released, there should be a lot of goodies when available when the time comes

Don't blame ya there. There is a lot of good info and a lot of good members at PreCentral. But it seems for every good member there are 10 mindless fanboys that automatically call people iPhone or Apple lovers if they raise a single concern about the Pre or WebOS.

If you set the iphone, pre, and TP side by side, you will have people that prefer each one over the other two. The TP is a weak phone with the stock operating system, plain and simple. In my experience, so are most other windows mobile devices. Bottom line is, windows mobile is for people who enjoy tweaking/modding their phone. If you are willing to take the time to do the necessary mods, windows mobile will blow any other phone/os out of the water, but out of the box, both the iphone and the pre blow the TP out of the water. My biggest complaint with the pre, is the same as my biggest complaint with the iphone. It is too user friendly. The pre and the iphone are both flashy, neat little devices, but they both lack the functionality and multitasking ability of windows mobile. bottom line is, there is no way to determine which device is the better device, because it depends on the person using it. I have direct access to all three phones, and i still wouldnt trade my TP for anything on the market right now. even so, the pre definately is a nice phone, with alot of nice features, and well worth looking into if you find windows mobile too cumbersome.
^^^^^^couldnt explain it any better. well done

Re: 3+ weeks w/ the pre (vs sprint touch pro)

Here's a simple one none of my WM phones did either.
As a SMS is typed the entry box gets larger so none of the text is blocked.

Such a simple thing to get right. Amazing it never worked on my T-Pro and yes I did post from the Pre (:
