I wouldn't even be that nice and some. I would of said MOST employees aren't that knowledgeable on their devices. They try and sell you on what their favorite phone is and will completely lie about features a phone has and doesn't have. I don't get this because if i by the phone what benefit is it to the employee that i get his favorite phone lol. I know this from experience and i use to work for t mobile. It's no different with other phone carriers.

is it really so wise to debut a phone where the competition will have it one week later give or take?

I would NEVER trust a store employee or manager. They really are clueless most of the time.

Honestly, if all the people that worked for the various carriers were required to read PPCGeeks 15 minutes a day it would revolutionize the general level of service in the industry.

For the most part the people working in the stores I have been in care about their product about as much as if they worked at Taco Bell.

When I was in the local corporate store last week returning my Pro, I struck up a conversation with a tech who seemed to be a bit of a phone phreek. He was showing me his flashed Pro and didn't understand why I was returning mine. I told him about the TP2 that was rumored to be out in June or July. He hadn't heard it, but told me about a "Rhodium" that was due at the end of the year. I told him they were the same phone, and he had really old news. He started going to his favorite web sites to check, and came up with the same info, that the TP2 is coming out in June or July.

The trouble is, every web site seems to be basing this on the same original post from Sprintusers, there is no independent confirmation.

Morals of the story:
1. The informed customer usually knows more than the person in the store.
2. Everybody loves a rumor on the web.

Hey just to fuel the fire I'll throw my bit of knowledge into this. I work at Bestbuy and just purchased my Touch Pro from there(6/1). I was checking our inverntory system for the Touch Pro to see how many we had left and it has been a Discontinued/Deleted item. There is no reason to discontinue the phone unless a new one is on its heels. I talked to the Mobile Dept. Manager and he said with that phone being deleted the TP2 will almost certainly be in this month. I am checking RSS(our inventory system) everyday for a Touch Pro 2 release date. If anyone else works for bestbuy here please check your inventories and see if yours have gone discontinued yet.
