Re: Recharge battery in 3 seconds...

It's not just in transporting it, it's in buying it. If we have a tool to help us use less gas then we won't need to buy as much of it from other countries.

right, but their only talking about charging while braking, I don't brake as much as I drive.

where the electric really benefits cars is in the torque used to get started from a stop, so a quick charge before you stop would ensure there's enough juice to get a good boost. obviously the gas engine would still need to run to maintain speed and "trickle" charge the batteries.

the main problem with batteries currently IS the slow discharge (think cold cranking amps), thus they stack many cells, and it adds weight/size.

Electric cars charge while coasting to a stop, thats the tricky part when learning to drive one. You need to coast so the regenerative cycle can kick in. Most people are used to gas pedal or brake pedal and don't really coast that much.

As along as fast to charge does not mean more apt to explode, I am for it.
I would not expect Mr Fusion small enough for a cellular phone

Yes they are batteries.
You're right, I didn't read the article at all. I assumed this was the same thing I read since it was MIT who also was working on the nanotube project. I'm just glad have people out there looking to innovate battery technology.

Re: Recharge battery in 3 seconds...

there was an article a few weeks, maybe months ago, about how MIT(i think) students, made batteries last days with heavy usage.. as of right now, our antennas draw from our batteries.. well they develpoed a way to run the antenna from the handset and not directly from the battery.. thus meaning our high powered, not so wel working all the time radios, wont be taking away from battery life.. longer life AND charging in seconds would be awesome...

however once these:http://www.konarka.com/index.php/site/tech_solar/ go into effect, electric cars wont need power supplies at home.. they charge while driving and "store" future energy.. also mobile phones can use these too... they use em on the radios in the army right now
