As reported here, it seems that a truce of sorts is being laid out between XDA, HTC, and Microsoft in regards to ROM creations... Hopefully the status quo can stay as it has been and ROM baking will continue...

Did you see the replys to the article. I completely agree. If xda or ppcgeeks were not here, i would have given up on my 6700. since they are though, im looking forward to my tp2

It's not like MS charges HTC a boat load of money for the WM OS. I read somewhere it's between $5-$7 per phone. Can't really compare that to Vista, which is well over $100.

I do agree that XDA and PPCGeeks are invaluable to HTC and MS.
We are literally the beta testers for most fixes. And we choose that because we flash ROMs. In the end, I think MS and HTC will continue to let us cook ROMs, because honestly, we are only a small subset of users.
