Truce between XDA, HTC and Microsoft?

As reported here, it seems that a truce of sorts is being laid out between XDA, HTC, and Microsoft in regards to ROM creations... Hopefully the status quo can stay as it has been and ROM baking will continue...

It was inevitable. Without xda, HTC wouldn't have the developers for programs for their devices.

Think the samething. Since HTC looks at XDA to see what improvements and such need to be made to their phones. Seems like everytime XDA fixes something, HTC includes it in their next ROM release.

It's not like MS charges HTC a boat load of money for the WM OS. I read somewhere it's between $5-$7 per phone. Can't really compare that to Vista, which is well over $100.

I do agree that XDA and PPCGeeks are invaluable to HTC and MS.

We are literally the beta testers for most fixes. And we choose that because we flash ROMs.
In the end, I think MS and HTC will continue to let us cook ROMs, because honestly, we are only a small subset of users.

Yeah, I think MOST people aren't tech savvy enough to know or want to know how to flash ROMs on their device. I had to help a girl at work install the WM 6.1 update for her Vogue. This was 2 weeks ago. lol

theres people on xda that work for HTC?? they must not be high up the food chain, otherwise i wouldve thought we had things way before we actually get em, like ROM dumps and such...i would think HTC wouldnt like that their emps are on a site, not that theyd necc know lol.. i know MS and everyone has "spies" on sites like this for feedback, and well lets face it, their probably really on here to steal ideas and claim em as their own..

ah well, screw it, if sites like this can get secrets from employees of the companies...GREAT... more for the little guy..
