Right! However, they have the right to choose who and what chips they want to contract with.

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC
you can't just pick the greatest and latest chipset for any price. the chipset has to be mature enough, proven and affordable.

LOL, I carried a "brick" like that for years -best quality phone I ever had.
That thing was so beat up it looked like it had been used as a framing hammer & it never missed a beat.......... ~John |

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC
Going from the Apache > Titan > Touch Pro, I absolutely love HTC's phones. I love that they finally are phasing out the stupidly small 2.8" screen. It took them long enough to make the screen flush with the edge, and finally a VGA version.
However, although this is (and always has been) the trend for technology, a newer, better, and shinier product is available only moments after it's predecessor. I'm not surprised to see the Touch Pro 2 released so soon after the Touch Pro 1 (especially since HTC has been playing with the WVGA screen for a while). I do understand from an industry point of view, in order to stay on top of the market, you need to keep raising the bar (otherwise someone else will beat you to it). So Kudos, HTC, on continually releasing the latest and greatest - albeit months after the previous model. Now, my only gripes - Why did you get rid of the flashlight? That was a great feature of these phones! I really hope the video drivers & playback will not be lacking once released to the US. Since the scroll wheel touch panel is no longer there, how will we easily zoom in on webpages & images, increase/decrease font size on the phone? Will multi-touch be used? I don't care much for the 3.5mm jack, but I've noticed a lot of people seem to want this. Why is the camera a 3.2MP when the Diamond has a 5MP? Is the camera going to be practical for everyday use, or do we still need to hold dead still to take a good pic? Why oh why can't the US get an early release? There must be a good reason. Keep up the good work HTC on your phones, but please pay attention to what we need. I can't image any tester/end user to be able to provide better feedback than us on these forums.

I love the features that HTC is bringing out in their new models, but their continuously shoddy hardware quality has always bothered me. It seems the more features they add, the less they care about quality control & it really blows me away that a $600 phone/PPC can't play a video in equal quality with my 8 year old daughter's ipod unless you do 500 different tweaks, try different encoding rates, try different players etc etc etc etc.......... Don't get me wrong, I really do love the TP (I have 3 of them) but if you could get WM & Sling Mobile to run on an iphone I don't think HTC would ever sell another phone again...... ~John |
