Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC
Oh my lanta.... to me the only difference is the screen size, and tilting screen. The offset keys are nice too... I would not waste my money upgrading if this was CDMA. The manila will get ported to all that AMAZING software will get ported.

i am with you though.....this device, while even sexier then our TPs will ultimately be seen as a serious under performing letdown unless major enhancements to the gfx hardware/driver are included.....which, unfortunately, there is no evidence of....seriously, as much as i love my TP, gfx wise, it does not perform as well as it should....i don't pretend to know exactly why with performance numbers and bar/pie graphs, but my Mogul/Titan hands my TP it's a$$ when it comes to multimedia....and that is where this market is heading.....like it(i do) or not, it is the truth. the mass market will not be buying a PPC/smartphone to sync with their work's exchange server, or remote desktop to finish a job.....the mass market will be buying PPCs to watch listen to music, play games, and watch TV/Movies. by adding the larger/higher-res screen and not beefing up the processor and/or gfx card this phone will be a huge dud and will significantly strengthen the evil empire's hand. hopefully, HTC has someone that recognizes this, because i predict that with the inclusion of the bigger screen, this baby will probably initially sell well to the mass market. if this prediction is on point, i fear it means bad things for HTC and WM in general....as by the time this thing rolls out in the US, shortly after a new hardware iteration of the marketing machine's iPhone will be around the corner with the gfx prowess somewhere between that of an original xbox and a 360. god help us then...the apple-bots will never let us hear the end of it...but this time they'll actually have valid arguments!?!?! i personally will never shell out what i see as a $1000/year apple/att tax for the "privilege" of being allowed to use some iCrap.....but never underestimate the power of apples marketing arm or stupidity and herd like nature of the American Public.

Re: Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 announced by HTC
I don't understand why so many people here are so upset with these new HTC phones.
I am very excited with these new phones even though I already have Diamond. why? bigger screen!!! when comparing with the iphone, the only big disadvantage of diamond is its much smaller screen. browsing full hmtl, reading email are so much better with bigger screen. iphone made it right the first time with their 3.5" screen. with the current hardward, it is not a bottle neck. why need 1Ghz cpu when you are not even fully utilizing the 528Mhz cpu? we are not gonna play Quake 3 game on this phone, aren't we? the browser, gps, phone, and email work great with the current hardware/Ram/ROM. why upgrade more hardware than you need? we are going to upgrade phones every 2 years anyway, why waste money on hardware that you are not going to use over 2 years? trust me. I built my own PC with quad core, and I am not even using half of its power. why waste the money on a powerfull cpu? by the time you need more power, there are something else better coming. I going to get TP2 for its 3.6" screen. keyboard, microsd card are the bonus. I think HTP made the right decision with bigger screen and same hardware spec. This will make HTC phones closer to the iphone. Last edited by foxnews; 02-16-2009 at 05:19 PM. |

No, no, no... you guys are asking the wrong question... of course they'll be brought to the US-- they're the flagship phones.
The question is-- how will the US carriers butcher the hardware designs? I mean seriously, maybe this is the year HTC will put their foot down and tell them, "No, it's our hardware, you take it as it is and we'll add your logo."

But I'm going to be REALLY REALLY ticked off if Sprint butchers the display on the TP2 the way they did the flimsy TP version... the whole "tilt" concept just concerns me, but as long as it's sturdy, I'm cool with it. |

The fact is, no more RAM, no different processor= same performance. I am not ponying up $500 for a bigger screen. If it had snapdragon or tegra with a 5 mp camera I would start saving now, but with this crap I will wait until the successor to these or for another windows mobile device if a better one were to drop on Sprint (looks at Omnia HD.) |
