Re: Ppc Viruses Are Coming!!!!
wow i didn't even know there was Norton for PPC... cool, but yeah, you're right, i'm not sure if antivirus is really that helpful with current ppc's and apps... maybe in the future...
is norton a pain at all? Does it ask you or alert you everytime you wanna install or view certain things? |

Re: Ppc Viruses Are Coming!!!!
well its not surprising.
the more and more our cellphones turn into computers.. its to be expected. i just hope manufacturers pump out fatter ram and higher cpu speeds to combat bloatware antivirus apps |

Re: Ppc Viruses Are Coming!!!!
bit defender also makes a ppc antivirus i dont persnally use it because i am fairly sure a hard reset or a ROM flash will fix everything up. i flash my phone atleast once a week so it wont really be a problem for me.

Re: Ppc Viruses Are Coming!!!!
I think that report has a high bogon count
(a) you have to work pretty hard to install an app on a phone (b) "reformat to factory new" is just a three finger salute away.... (c) When your battery dies in 30 minutes, you know your phone has been rootkitted (d) maybe these guys work for the anti-virus companies, and they (AV companies) see a nice huge untapped market? Naw, it couldn't be that, could it? Bah.

Re: Ppc Viruses Are Coming!!!!
Norton is pretty close to the definition of a virus IMO. There is no way I would voluntarily use one of their products.

Re: Ppc Viruses Are Coming!!!!
+1 for that!! Years ago, when Peter Norton was still part of the equation, it was a great product. Used it all the time. Now, it 's to the point where the first thing I will do with a new PC is to uninstall Norton, Symantec, or whatever name it's going by. About 16 months ago, I had to reinstall our wireless printer to our home network. The printer would make it almost 1/2 way into the install process and then hang, due to a running Norton service (BTW, I removed all Norton/Symantec products prior to the re-install). Took me until 1130 PM (I started @ 830) to find where the service was running and kill it. The install when smooth after that.
