Windows 6.1 coming on April 1st? - MERGED - Page 6

judging by how long it took sprint to get the rev a gps rom out... wm 6.1 is not going to be coming to your phone thru an official sprint endorsed upgrade. They need a carrot to dangle for the next great HTC handset that eventually will roll around...

folks it hasnt even been a month since sprint rolled out the official gps rev a rom and you actually think they're gonna release a new rom this fast AND on april fools day? sheesh... and on top of it all the operative word here is "release"... but release to whom? the carriers, the handset developers, the software developers? I think that by 'release' they mean it is being officially made public... in the first link it said that the head of MS Mobile blah blah would be the keynote speaker at CTIA... there's your release it's just being made public....

Kinda like when they do a press conference at E3 (rip) just because they're talking about it onstage, doesnt mean it hits the streets the same day!!

ok well to get rid of the nonsense waiting period i just went ahead an called htc & sprint an got same answer from both representatives, "Windows Mobile 6.1 is in the works but will not be OFFICIALLY released until late June early July... Oh well, at least I feel better knowing i didn't stay up all night refreshing HTC's main site in hopes of the upgrade popping up like some of you did... Guess its "here i come No2Chem WM6.1" lol... Hope that clears up some drama for u guys..

And the new Moguls released are Rev A and GPS enabled, thats why so many of them got pulled but upon restocking, at least at the store that i called they said all thirty moguls they got were gone in 4 days.. Talk about word of mouth sales lol...

hehe... what you didnt ask them is will this upgrade be made available for the mogul and other current wm6 devices.... you might have gotten a VERY different answer then.

well actually i explained what phone i had "mogul" an what updates i've already been through "sprints 3.35 rom" an than proceeded to ask about the 6.1 update so im sure they knew what phone i was referring too.. an besides, even if they didn't its not like were not used to being lied to by sprint or anything haha..

Considering how long it took anyone to adopt WM6, I suspect we won't see 6.1 updates for most of our phones. The only plus-side of its official release for us is that the ROM-builders will rip the official ones apart and filter all the best parts into custom ROMs. Trust me, it's worth switching to custom ROMs. Once you see what they offer, you'll have a hard time going back to the official builds.

This update does not need to be in a Rom format. It could could through Sprint OTA downlaod (from the internet) or through windows update on the device.
