WM 6.1 is not just a UI overhaul but adds something much more significant for business and IT (albeit not consumer): Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 In fact, the Treo 750 (who just got WM6) will be getting this update in mid-2008. The big question is what, if any, changes are there to WM6.1 Pro. That is not yet known. To put it another way: there are a lot more questions than answers right now about WM 6.1. |

The new PIE looks like Deepfish and PIE combined...good idea. However, BGR's video production.... |

Regardless, understand: WM is first and foremost a corporate/enterprise mobile OS. WM6 aka "Crossbow" was called that because MS was "taking aim at RIM"--that should tell you the focus of the OS right there. Sure, WM can be made more consumer-friendly, but a lot of times it feels somewhat forced...and it is. MS allows this because they want to sell licenses to anyone, even Apple. If the OEMs want to make a Q9m like on Verizon, go ahead. HTC wants the "Touch", knock yourself out. But ultimately, it's still an enterprise device. For "other changes" see my post above. Once again, those are HUGE changes and HUGE options for IT, but as a straight up consumer, it's not. |

Looks interesting, very flashy but is it robust and stable? Glitz is nice but stability is very important too! From what I understand EVDO Rev A and GPS functionality require WM 6.1 and that is due out 2008 first quarter! Sprint has promised these will work on the 6800 so keep your fingers crossed.

While it'd be nice, the GPS part is most likely not true; the Kaiser(Tilt) runs WM6.0 and has integrated GPS, works just fine, as does the Moto Q9C. Rev. A requires WM6, but I don't think it requires 6.1 either. It'd be nice if we got the OS, but honestly, we may not even have enough RAM to run it.
