Well, I guess how difficult it is really depends on what needs to be done.

Writing/updating HardSPL shouldn't be difficult. The rub is what needs to be done/added to support the Motorola Q; do we know exactly what needs to be achieved to make this work?

If so, then we can go right ahead--but if we're guessing at what it will take to make this fly, then I can see how this would be extremely time consuming.

With HardSPL, have they ever thought of going the opposite direction.

Instead of bypassing the security check, what about faking it? Like how mod-chips inject code into the PS2 data stream to make it think it's a real disk.

I have a whole bunch of Q's sitting around that I'd be happy to sell for cheap. If you don't want to buy them, I'd be happy to test ROMs and help dump. Please send me a PM if you want the assistance.

Just a guess here, but I would think that might be tough without Sprint's private key. Honestly, I don't know if there are any digital signatures involved, but there just might be...and if that's the case, it would tough to spoof a digital signature without the private key.

I just read this whole thread and got really excited about this. I have a Q I'm using in Canada that came from Verizon originally, then flashed to Bell mobility which I am using in Manitoba on the MTS Mobility network. WM6.x would be a great thing to try out, though I'm not sure if it would work for me on this network, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.
