Re: Alltel Plan VS Droid

so u must be talking about contracts that are up - I got a text yesterday that I can upgrade early. "Get any advanced device, like Droid, 4 lowest promo price w/2 yr renwl on qualifying plan!"

Now i'm not a lawyer but there is a difference between renewing your current plan and purchasing a new plan isn't there?

Re: Alltel Plan VS Droid

I went ahead and changed over from Alltel to Verizon 'cause the cost of adding a line is higher on an Alltel plan. Upgraded my Titan to a Motorola DROID, and without Verizon being involved I was able to tether the DROID and use it for Internet access with my Laptop at a reported 2.4G. Twice as good as with Alltel. So far I'm liking the DROID very much. None of those damned Windows Mobile problems!

Re: Alltel Plan VS Droid

I have a Touch Pro w/ an Alltel plan, and I just checked the online upgrade option in my VZW account. It says I would have to pay $569 to upgrade to the Droid and keep my current plan. Anyone know of a way around it where I could pay the standard 2 year plan and keep my current contract?

Re: Alltel Plan VS Droid

my wife works for VZW and was an old alltel rep. she sells the DROID on EXISTING alltel plans all day. VZW is saying you can not because they want you on a VZW plan not alltel. they want to eliminate all alltel plans, that is why they said you can not put the droid on alltel.

But the catch is this is not advertised, and you must know to ask for it. I'm going to do it, but wait till closer to the due date, to get the maximum # of time with my Alltel terms of contract. Good luck!
So, is the 12/31/09 cutoff for all VZW customers who are still on their Alltel plans or just the ones who are close to re-up anyway?
We re-upped in July (a few days before being assimilated) so we could keep our Alltel plan so we won't be eligible for upgrade until 03/11.

breakmyfootoff, are you saying we can upgrade this month, keep our Alltel plan, and pay the upgrade (not full price) for the Droid?

Unless something has changed since I bought mine on Nov. 11th, yes. My 2 year contract would not have been due for an upgrade unitl May 25th in 2010. I paid the 20.00 early renewal fee so I could upgrade early and renewed my Alltel plan (all the same prices features and minutes) for 2 years, and got the MotoDroid for 199.99.

Re: Alltel Plan VS Droid

I worked for Alltel, and talked to one of my former co-workers yesterday. She said one reason the reps are pushing for the Verizon plans is because they get commission on the data features. If you stay with the Alltel plan they don't.
