I give you that. The rubbery feel is nice. But PLEASE let's not say it's 'solid'... I lead an active life and this phone would be dead now if it wasn't for its pouch... How thin can they go with battery backs before they evaporate?! Seriously, they need to beef up construction substantially! I used to own a Kyocera 3245 and that phone could be rolled on (happened once!) and just suffer scratches!

If you get a good screen protector then your good as long as you don't handle your phone like a gorilla ! lolI still say it is one of the most durable devices out there. I still have the first one that got initially and no hardware problems except for a few very minor scratches in the screen. I'm gonna get me a new digitizer soon and put a new protector on it and it should be like new again! Hopefully !!
Definitely get a digitizer as a spare while they are still available ... After 8 months my screen is showing moire pattern under fluorescent light typical of imminent delamination...

Now to get back on the issue of solidity... How long have you had yours? How much to you use it? I use my phones for work quite a lot and I do have an active occupation so the phones get tossed around with the owner In other words, I'm not always at the computer!!! (Even my computers wear out quick... my almost two year old laptop is loosing its surface finish around the palm rest

In any case why are we arguing... I wouln't change it for another one, it suits my needs perfectly well... Just wish they would spend a bit more on case design, you always get the impression case design is an afterthought!!!

Well that is great about the electronics for sure, but if that doesn't tell you how flimsy the case is, what does!

I have had my Vogue about 1 year and 4 months. Like I stated earlier I still have my original . I have used it everyday since it is my primary device. I bought a 2000mah battery for it which came with a replacement back which is about 6mm wider than the original . I actually like it better than the original cause it kinda feels better in my hand. I can grip it better. I can't remember the last time I turned it off completely. lol In fact, I'm typing this on it. It's been great so I really can't complain at all . Lastly, the things I have said are obviously my opinion . I'm not trying to argue with you. Just stating my experience and also repeating what I have heard from other users. I really hope mine lasts until I can afford to upgrade!!

Re: Happy Bday Vogue! (2yr today)

Sure is a great phone... in a ****ty plastic case!!! Seriously, though: just think of it...How much more would it cost to make it really rugged? And by the way, this is not a criticism of HTC, but the whole of the industry... Considering how much cell phones sell for, don't you think manufacturers could spend a few dollars more on plastic and maybe some rubber to make cells phones dust proof and at least, water resistant? Why is it one can manufacture throw away waterproof cameras for $20 yet cell phone companies can't be bothered spending 5% extra making cell phones decently rugged?

Anyway - you must be right: if most users consider existing cell phones 'solid', no wonder they aren't better built...

But like I said, this is not to say I don't love this phone... Quite the opposite!!! Just that it needs a lot of TLC to hold together for anyone who has a normal active life!!! Then again you could probably say the same things about laptops (although laptop solidity has improved significantly in the past decade, I admit...)

One question for you, horndoctor: what keyboard do you use? I use the stylus, maybe that's how I got these wear marks on my screen (to be honest they don't show much unless I clean the screen with alcohol, removing all the finger grease).

I use Fingerkeyboard 2 for my keyboard. I also use the stylus quite a bit cause I like the accuracy. I have increased the screen sensitivity to the point where I only have to lightly tap the screen to register touches. In the Registry Tweaks Thread you can find the tweaks I have done to increase screen sensitivity. I highly recommend those tweaks to anyone who has a Vogue. You can get Fingerkeyboard from this site or xda. It is freeware. If you have any other questions PM me.

Re: Happy Bday Vogue! (2yr today)

I am still on my original Sprint touch (2 yrs. old now) and have dropped it more times than I would care to admit, and still this phone has held up! Only minor scuffs on the case. I honestly think the soft touch paint on the Sprint version makes it a little more rugged than other versions. The screen has a few scratches, but nothing glaring. The stylus top broke, and so I do not use a stylus any more (thank you WM 6.5). Vogue is a great phone.

Re: Happy Bday Vogue! (2yr today)

Glad to hear!!! My latest spare was owned by a woman and from the date code of the battery, she's had it for almost 2 years and it's in very good condition... Not a single scratch on the screen... Then again she said she had used it with the screen protector, and it shows (But how can you install these things? I managed to capture a dust particle when I installed mine so I ended up getting rid of it right away ). She also used a silicone 'glove', which I tend to dismiss because they can catch dust in-between and act like sandpaper on the device

So how do you guys protect them to make them 'solid'? A silicone glove or the OEM pouch? What about these super tough skins that are supposed to resist nails and sandpaper? Ever heard of them?

Same happened to mine. Began using the spare that came in the box with new Vogue. Couple of months later, same break. Guess there's a weak spot and/or I put too much pressure? Anyway, bought an inexpensive ($2/stylus) 3-pack. They turned out to be ever so slightly fatter in diameter, and didn't feel right when removing from and replacing into storage in Vogue. I ended up building a hybrid stylus, mating the plastic end cap from one of the new 3-pack, with busted original, which had to be carefully drilled out to remove leftover plastic. Then, instead of just screwing the new top in, I gave it some support by wrapping the thin area where others had broken, using a tiny piece of, ah-hem, duct tape. It's worked fairly well ever since, for over a year now. Cheap 3-pack is here:
