1.) You can leave android running all the time. As more developers have more time, the bugs get worked out and things are better and better. But be aware that android uses a lot more juice than WinMo will so make sure you have access to a charger if you plan on running it all day. 2.) There is a program to sync with Mac's etc, but I do not know what its called. 3.) Getting apps to work with android off air may be harder but I'm not sure. You may have to look around for apps to download to you Mac and then sync to the phone. This may be complicated though. 4.) Text and voice mail do work with android. I haven't used it in a while, but last time I heard anything the bug that will tell you that your text have not been sent is still present, BUT your text ARE going through. 5.) I'm not positive but I think ANY GPS on any phone will require use of data. You may want to look around in the vogue forum to see if this is even possible. 6.) All you need to run unsigned programs is a little cab called "sdkcerts". You should be able to find it pretty easily. 7.) You don't need anything to get android running once you get the package on your storage card. It is all self-contained. |

On an extension to 4... I use the Ion build and do not have the problem with text message errors. I don't get an error message and they do work. (Sprint Touch) I am wondering if that was a previously reported bug or an issue with the non-Ion builds. |

Re: Android On Vogue - n00b Guide
Thanks for your replies, I have a few more questions (this is still all preliminary, I'll be picking up an SD card tomorrow if I can find a suitable one.)
1. Do I need an SD card reader to plug into my computer, or can I put the SD car in the phone, connect the phone to my computer through USB and transfer the Android files to the SD card that way? 2. As far as SD cards go, should I be looking to get a card bigger than 2GB? All I can find online for MicroSD is 2 gigs...anything higher is the MicroSDHC...and I'm pretty sure the vogue can't handle the HC, am I correct? Thanks again, hopefully the next time I ask questions it's to ask what I'm doing wrong when Android doesn't work! Oh, also, when I run the sdkcerts, do I need to have that installed on the phones memory? Do I actually run the program, or do I simply have it on the phone and then run haret? 2.) I am using a leftover 512mb card as my main 4gb card has my important stuff on it. I had read that android sometimes corrupts other files on the card (hence the use of my spare). I swear that I have previously used a 4gb in that phone though in WinMo. I don't remember for sure... |

2 - I'm currently running a 4GB card in my Touch that I got off of ebay. I couldn't find one locally. I have heard of some type of program that allows our Touch's to run SDHC cards but have had no experience with such. 3 - Once you run sdkcerts once, it should be fine to delete it unless you have to reflash your ROM. |
