Re: Android On Vogue - n00b Guide

i used this to attempt to port android
http://www.myhtcphone.com/vogue-cab-installer
i installed the cab just fine. i have the correct default.txt, but it always says "no data.img" or a related message about data. does data need to be involved, i have no data plan. or is that just if i want internet on my vogue in android?

Re: Android On Vogue - n00b Guide

I am wondering how can I get my contacts and messages imported into Android. I would like to use it for a daily use to see how it stacks up. I have read through various posts here and on XDA and no one has really addressed this issue. Anyone have some insight on this?

Here is what I did -

My contacts were synched into Outlook (since I had been using Windows Mobile for over a year... Outlook was where my contacts were synched to...)
I exported my contacts from Outlook in XML or CSV (Can't remember exactly)
I went to gmail and did an import (and used the file from outlook)
Once in gmail contacts they automatically synch up with Android.

Even better, while I was testing android on my vogue, google released the exchange synch for windows mobile. I still use windows mobile today (my vogue crapped out on me...) and I have *never* gone back to outlook. It now pulls my contacts into windows mobile from gmail as well (automatically).

Now if only Sprint would allow Sero plans for their android phones!!! It is so much better than winodows mobile...

just sync your contacts with your gmail account. then when you first boot android, you will sign in to your gmail account. It will automatically sync all your contacts for you in the background.

Hey I'm trying to get this up and going but the rootfs file is .img format and you instructions say .zip and to extract it but I can't find a program that recognizes .img as a compressed file.

Re: Android On Vogue - n00b Guide

Dear All,
I have problem sending and receiving Chinese SMS using Android. When receiving Chinese SMS, my 6900 just tell me "bad SMS encoding" and when sending Chinese SMS, the other phone just show meaningless charactors and numbers. English SMS just works fine with me.
Anyone have any idea? Thanks a lot.
PS. Chinese SMS is fine using WM on the same phone.
