Re: No Service after ugrading ROM HTC Touch

Understood about the basic ROM not downgrading the unlocker, never was implying to do so as I assumed you wanted to get the radio back up and a ROM on there, sorry if I want clear on that

as for the partial writes, personally I have no clue what the special ROM is your referring to did you try and find a base radio ROM as suggested and attempt to use that rather than that special one?

try this one 3.42.50
http://rapidshare.com/files/19899365...42.50.rar.html
then try unlocking and flashing again

and make sure your bell carrier cab is there if you dont have it already or are flashing a bell ROM directly

if you are still having issues I would suspect what you stated about the flash memory issue and take it into your store for a replacement

Thanks for the link, I'll be downloading that, if it helps. But the device does show the 3.42.50 radio when it boots so I presume removing it using the special 4350 file must have force reloaded it from within the carrier VOGUIMG.nbh; but you can be sure I will give it a try

So I've loaded the coke 0.40 again, so as to reload the phone yet once again and start reloading the OEM VOGUIMG.nbh, then stopped before it let the phone reboot. It said 0.36 on the bootloader screen. I then loaded the Bell VOGUIMG.nbh on the SD card, it ran partially and came with an error (update failed), started again, this time it went through, the loader is back to the OEM 2.00. something and 3.42.50 radio, but still no service.

The fact the first update through with an error at such a low level, does make me believe there is a hardware problem with this phione... Don't you think something would have improved after loading the OEM ROM so many times?

I could try yet again running the OEM carrier EXE, if that could help, but every time I've tried in then past two weeks, I got an RUU 328 (Invalid command) error during the process. The weird thing is, when I load the 2.31 Coke loader, I can easily use the utility to load a cooked rom, but it won't work with the OEM!

If someone can explain why the RUU will work with the custom ROM and not with the OEM ROM, go ahead! Could it be because the OEM EXE has special apps and settings? The OEM carrier exe simply won't work!

All this makes me believe there is nothing much I can do at this time, that it's something that I cannot fix...

That's what I'm afraid about... And I don't relish being without a phone for one month!!!

Unfortunately I cannot spend much more time experimenting, at least not for a couple of days, I'm being clamored on to finish the work I promised... But you can be sure that I'll try to get some time off to try new stuff anyway

At this point the only remaining thing, besides trying to load the radio and run the carrier EXE, would be to manually reprogram stuff in the EPST, but I reloaded the settings saved in QPST from last month, when the phone was working right, and that didn't help either although it ws obvious some settings were different than a month ago, so reprograming may simply not work...

In any case, the phone stubbornly refuses to turn itself on or stays stuck in "No Service" mode when I force it on, with that weird antenna icon it has for a fraction of a second when it first starts activating itself after after a soft reset...

Many thanks again for your generous help, as you can see, I'm starting to mumble and go mad

Re: No Service after ugrading ROM HTC Touch

my only thought is why do you keep attempting to drop down to .40?
unlock it to the 2.xx or whatever and then follow the steps to get it up and running...

If I don't, I can't get it back to the original OEM boot loader. In other words, I've bneen trying with great effort to revert to the original carrier ROM so that i could re-run the carrfier EXE and hopefully solve my problem. (whenever i run the carrier EXE now, i get RUU error 320 or 328, invalid command, and the RUU qjuits)

If I run the OEM nbh file from the SD card with the 2.31 loader is installed, upon reboot the loader hasn't bee overwritten, it's still Coke 2.31. The only way I could get it back to the original boot loader was to load the 0.40 Coke, which can be overwritten. However when i did that, although everything appeared to get back to OEM, the phone radio got killed.

In other words, I simply can't go back to OEM at all, no matter what I tried. The OEM EXE, whcih contains all these custom things, simply won't run anynore

I sure wish ImCokeMan would have a look at this and help, I'm at my wits 's ends

Are you supposed to be able to simply run then carrier exe once unlocked and get back to OEM condition? I sure haven't been able to!!!

To sum it up: no matter what, I simply haven't been able to revert the phone to is OEM setting (3.08.666 ROM, august 2008, with 3.42.50 radio) in its original condition. Unlocking the phone, in essence, made it impossible for me to go back... And trying to killed the radio...

It was the first thing I did after I tried that custom ROM, but ever since the phone was unlocked, I haven't been able to run the Carrier EXE, the only way i got it to work the first time was to extract the nbh file from the carrier exe, load that on an SD card and put it in b oot loader mode. But that did not relaod all the other stuff that the carrier exe does to setup gthe phone properly.

The idea behind using the 0.40 unlocker was to get it in a state where it wold accept the OEM loader, I thought that it would make it close enough to the original conditionm that the carrier EXE would finally run normally, but it didn't

My last hope is finding a way to run the carrier exe without getting an RUU 320 or 328 error. At bthis time whenever i try that, the phone rebots while itg's being detected, the USB connetion gets cut off ans satrted a few times, it just can't work.

Running the exact same RUU contained in custom roms, no problem whatsoever. The problem appears only when I try to run the carrier EXE. The hidden loader that runs when you run the carrier exe first decompresses rhe nbh and other files, the problem happens after that when it tries to recognize th phone. the problem app seems to be "PPSTPatch.exe", which doesn't exiosty in custom ROMs. But I'm sure it's essentiel to the proper setup of the phone, since there are TWO nbh files a, a cab file and that exe on top of the well known RUU.

Am I the only one with this problem? has anyone with Bell tried to revert to OEM after unlocking? That's the question!

Re: No Service after ugrading ROM HTC Touch

yes, basically you SHOULD be able to run 2.31 unlocker, then the radio flash then any custom or original ROM you want to (based on your provider of course) and with generic custom ROMs then the carrier cab

you do NOT need to run the unlocker each time though despite the version, once unlocked its unlocked unless you run the .40 twice and then the carriers original rom (supposedly Ive never needed to relock a phone)

now you mention time constraints, if your paying for the full insurance as well, just call up and claim it was stolen, pay the $50 and get a refurbed vogue and start over -will definitely be quicker than waiting a month or so for you to send it in, them do whatever and ship it back to you - just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary LOL
