Re: Connecting HTC Touch (Sprint) to Freedom 2000 Keychain GPS

Gentlemen,

It still didn't work. The ROM update worked great and was easy and flawless. I installed the Sprint Carrier cab and the Astro launcher cab without any problems.

When I went into my programs and started Tom Tom Launcher it brought up the software like I expected but still no GPS. The screen alternates between "No Device" and "Connecting to GPS device."

At this point, I'm wondering if Dette is right and there's a hardware problem. I don't think it's the internet because I can browse the internet as normal without any problems.

At this point, I'm just wondering if I should go out and buy a seperate hand-held GPS device and give up.

I'm going to keep playing with it just to see what, if anything, I come up with.

Any last suggestions before I admit defeat?

Thanks

Re: Connecting HTC Touch (Sprint) to Freedom 2000 Keychain GPS

Don't give up yet, it could be a hardware problem but most likely something else, that's one of the things this forum is for..troubleshooting LOL

Lets just do a little troubleshooting, Open T.T. by clicking the T.T launcher only, now in tom tom, did you go into the settings and set gps settings....tap screen/change preference/arrow/arrow/show gps/configure
1. select "other nmea gps"
2. baud rate 4800
3. select com 4

That should do it if not, it may have to do with something else...

Open your phone dialpad and type ##778# and select view, now look down and see what your PRI version is, it should be 2.03_003 or 2.04 if not run the CAB below to update it to 2.03. Only for Sprint.

Here is another program called GPSViewer, it allows you to see the status of your gps chip and sats.
Inside the ZIP is an .exe file that is run from your phone.....so extract it on your PC and transfer it to your phone and when you want to run it, just navigate to it on your phones file explorer and click it to run it.
Once open Select open gps and you should start to see more and more gps numbers appear and select gps status and you can see which sats are being detected, always select "close gps" when exiting or your chip may stay active draining battery.

With gpsviewer running the gps chip is active and you can open TT normally and set it up and it will work too.

Don't give up yet

Re: Connecting HTC Touch (Sprint) to Freedom 2000 Keychain GPS

Primenall,

Ok, I'm now struggling to find a way to type this without coming accross as a complete idiot; unfortunately, I can't find the right words so I'll just come right out and tell you---you're a genious and I'm an idiot.

For all the settings and changes I've made this weekend, I can't believe that this morning I forgot to change the settings in my Tom Tom software.

I looked at my settings with every other ROM update but forgot to look at them this morning. Right now, my GPS appears to be working and everything else appears to be working. I'm going to use it for the next few days just to see how many satelites and how quickly but as of right now, it's working--you're a genious--I'm an idiot.

Seriously, I really want to thank you and Dettes for all the help that you've given to me. I'm happy that I'm up and running--finally.

Thanks again.

Hey the reason I was helping you is because, you are NOT and Idiot (and I'm no genius just passing on stuff I've learned here)

And now you know what to do too, the internal chip is really accurate in the couple of touches I've used with TT, it's so sweet having right in your phone without having to have an external bluetooth reciever (I used one of those for years).

Re: Connecting HTC Touch (Sprint) to Freedom 2000 Keychain GPS

Hi:

I have HTC Touch with sprint similar to Vogue. I followed few thread to enable the GPS and ended up with just the startup screen

I followed the link http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370 and then used ImCokeMan's Unlocker 2.31. When I press the power, camera and reset button I can see 2.31 Coke. After that I was able to get Windows screen and got Sprint service and made a call and tested.

Then I used the active sync and installed ROM "OMJ.3.09.01.Custom" under the link http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30332

Now when it restarted I can just see the "HTC smart Mobility" screen and not booting up. What should be done? Is it a failure.

Please help.
Yuva
