Audio Booster, SRS WOW HD, TCPMP EQ... What gives???

I love my Vogue and I think its a pretty decent music player, but why can I not get any kind of EQ to work on it? If I try to use the builtin EQ in TCPMP, changing any setting just one click will cause the sound to distort so badly it sounds like the speakers are going to blow. This happens on the stock Vogue speaker, headphones, car speakers, doesnt matter what its hooked up to.

I've tried SRS WOW HD in the past with no luck, always says there is no HD driver loaded, which makes me sad because I've heard its quite amazing. Audio booster always says there is no headset plugged in.

Anyways, can someone tell me why or let me know of another alternative?
