Re: ALLTEL WM 6.1 finally HERE!! {Merged}

Yes I was definitely on the bell .50, I live in the middle of nowhere and the closest tower is 7.5 miles away so reception in town sucks and if there is much between you and the tower (brick, tin, etc.) then you got nothing.

At some point I plan on going to some specific places and recording dBm values, then that same day (cause it seems to change daily dependent on weather when your signal is this iffy) go back to the bell radio and go record the same values.

But for the time being, this radio is better than .5 even though its technically a downgrade. Like I said I got 2 phone calls yesterday where I have never been able to get them before no matter what the weather was.

Thanks,
Ben

Hey, I appreciate the follow-up. I recall that I had read a post or two where the .30 radio was being given a nod over the .50 radio, but never gave it a second thought ... most of the replies were going striclty on number of bars, but you confirmed higher dbm readings via debug, which got my attention!

Best regards,
-boggsie

Re: ALLTEL WM 6.1 finally HERE!! {Merged}

ya number of bars doesn't really tell you much, mine phone can sit in the same spot and it jumps all over the place depending on when you look at it. Also have found that I get the most accurate readings in debug if I am streaming sirius radio while looking, that way the phone is constantly awake.

The diffrence isn't alot really, but its enough to make the diffrence of a dropped call or not.

Now I am just going to have to tear this ROM down and use the good stuff, I hate that alltel removes the ## codes and all that, but I also believe that its probably going to be the most stable 6.1 ROM just because of how well Alltel test.

Thanks,
Ben
