The real secret is going to be inthe PPST file. Something with the programming in that, is what really does enable for fast GPS locks. When alltel puts out the offical release it will have the updated PPST file.

Re: Alltel GPS Issues

Well I looked through all the QPST tabs and didn't see it. If anyone has any ideas on where to look, I've got USB cables for all our phones along with live demo phones. I did try hooking up some of our other GPS enabled phones to QPST, and interestingly, the AGPS settings were all 0's. Looks like we only enable AGPS on the BlackBerry... I'll shoot an email out and see if the guys who are working on the software update wouldn't mind sharing the newer PPST file with me.

Finally we have someone that has an inside connection with alltel, Every other carier seems to have someone that is on the inside. but never for alltel until now.

Edit
Doing a Whois seach I did come up with this information about the AGPS server, it did have some interesting links. But it does show that it is infact Alltel.

So I just sent an email to a guy I know in Little Rock (our HQ), and asked him if he could get me the all the SUPL AGPS registry settings from the new ROM, and any updated PPST.exe file they are testing the new ROM update with. I don't know if they'll want to share it or not, but it never hurts to ask...

Tell him to leak the rom, that way their getting beta testers and if the rom screws up the device its on the customer and not Alltel...

Anyways, is there anyway to find out if that AGPS servers works only for Blackberry's or for all Alltel devices? I know my Glimmer has AGPS becuase it locks in seconds using Telenav but I'm assuming the AGPS settings are in the software because in not in the GPSOne settings on the phone.

Re: Alltel GPS Issues

Would the AGPS servers have a way of knowing what phone was connecting? I would think they all use some standard protocol. But shouldn't my GPS be able to connect even without the AGPS? I know it would be slower, but I have NEVER been able to get a lock, no matter how long I let it sit, and I know other Alltel users have been able to get a lock. There has to be something I'm missing here...
