Stupid noob stumped, please help

I've been going pretty flash happy, here's the order I did things:

(as per tutorial)
installed the unlocker
installed the alltel rom
installed a couple custom roms, currently trying Mixxy's(?)

Problem is I lost EVDO, and I'm stuck a 1X. I'm not toally clueless, and learned that I need to call *22803 and update the phone/PRL. My problem is it won't update the PRL. Is it because I'm not using an "official" telus rom?

It's hard finding the info I need because Sprint seems to be uber popular here Also, my mind is boggling at all the acronyms flying around....PST, PRL, PRI, SPL, SPC, ABCDEFG...
