Stupid noob stumped, please help

I've been going pretty flash happy, here's the order I did things:

(as per tutorial)
installed the unlocker
installed the alltel rom
installed a couple custom roms, currently trying Mixxy's(?)

Problem is I lost EVDO, and I'm stuck a 1X. I'm not toally clueless, and learned that I need to call *22803 and update the phone/PRL. My problem is it won't update the PRL. Is it because I'm not using an "official" telus rom?

It's hard finding the info I need because Sprint seems to be uber popular here

Also, my mind is boggling at all the acronyms flying around....PST, PRL, PRI, SPL, SPC, ABCDEFG...

Have you tried using the official Telus release? You should try it and let the customizations run. After you have done this you should have the newest Radio, and have your proper settings. The link is

Yea, in the end I went with the telus release, but again calling to update the PRL said my handset wasn't eligable for an update. Programming worked fine, but it refuses to go into EVDO mode. GPS works, but what's the point if I fall back to what amounts to 56k lol

Calling tech support...I figure if I'm using their official ROM they can still help me

well, things seems to have worked themselves out? Or maybe the tech I talked to did something, I dunno, but I finally managed to update the PRL

GPS works, I got my EVDO icon back, and according to the speedtest I'm doing ok. (about 500kbps). Though speed wise I get a really strong, fast burst of speed, but after the 600k mark, it plummets to 2-4kbps. Good enough for web browsing, horrid for streaming.

Is there any way to back up the PRL and user settings to transfer them to a new ROM? I'm now using ghetto's v721 generic, and I'd like to stay there, but I'm a sucker for flashing now that I can do it so easily :P I'd just hate to have to go through all this every time I wanna try something new lol!

Anyway, things are working fine, I don't wanna tweak anything else for fear of breaking it again! I have to say though, this is an amazing forum, I was up till 4am dorking around with ROMs lol

im not sure cause im not a touch user or a telus user either but check and see if theres a program under the windows folder called EPST then click it and choose veiw and write/type down the settings:
ESN(HEX)
ESN(Dec)
MSID
A Key(if you have one)
the home SID: both numbers
and the PRL Id
these setting are important. don't loose them.
but they are mainly used to make sure your phone is set up right.
and the first time i was messing with roms i didnt sleep at all for a day and a half. hope this helps but idk if it will since im on a diff network.
