Sprint's Touch: Overnight freezing, and my options

My Touch has been freezing on me overnight for the past couple of months. It doesn't always do it, but it does do it enough to be a cause for concern. The phone becomes numb to any input and requires a soft reset.

I've tried hard resets. I've checked to see if it's software compatibility. I've flashed to the recently released 6.1 ROM as it appears on HTC's website. Nothing seems to stave it off.

So yeah, that's definitely unacceptable. I've emailed tech support at Sprint, but in lieu of their response, what sort of options might I have out of all this? Does it become an insurance claim, or do they tend to be liberal with providing replacement devices for seemingly defective ones, or will they allow a switch to another product entirely?

Thanks.

Re: Sprint's Touch: Overnight freezing, and my options

I would try a few of the custom ROMS from here, I have had GREAT luck with OMJ's and DHarvey's Black Vista ROM.

Good Luck!!

Mine does the same thing, it started with the 6.1 official (the one that was leaked 2-3 days br ots official release), since then I flashed to DHarveys rom, and still have the same issue. seems the only solution is to keep it off the charger all night.

hhhhmmm I never had this problem. Looks like the Evil Gremlins attack again.
Could try placing next to the fireplace at night

But seriously, I am not sure about this one. Have you hard reset or reflashed? Remember if do that, backup stuff and you will loose everything.

Did both as mentioned in OP. No go.

Did that, too. Both are, and always have been, disabled. I don't use BT, and beam has always been disabled.

As regards the charger suggestion, that is an idea, but if I don't charge my phone overnight, it'll never get charged... heh.

Take it to sprint for an exorcism then, unless anybody else has any ideas.

Re: Sprint's Touch: Overnight freezing, and my options

Last night I fully charged my phone, and unplugged from the charger.
Today when I woke up I used the phone till about 50%, plugged it into the charger, and checked on it about 20 mins later and it was frozen.

I dont have beam or file sharing on, and like I said it happens with official sprint rom and DHarverys

Yeah, sucks, eh?

Sprint told me to return the Touch to them, pick up a new device in a local store and charge it to my account, and they'll credit it upon receipt of the defective one. Given the $50 retail difference, I'm trying the Instinct, but if another Touch would work for me, it'd be no contest whatsoever.

So is this freezing thing widespread or what?

Re: Sprint's Touch: Overnight freezing, and my options

I'm not saying that this is what you should do but mine stopped freezing when I went to the Alltel Rom (I'm a Sprint customer) with GPS / Rev A. I've not upgraded or anything from that as it's been working great.

Perhaps it's something starting up and running in the background like an email program or something else?
