Great. I literally bought mine last week on the SERO plan. I wonder if I call and complain if they will give me the difference in price?
There is a 30 day promise on Sprint equipment. But it might involve you returning that one and recieving a new one in the mail.

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

Well, I am also 12 days into my ownership when price dropped to it's current level.
I emailed ecare about a credit. Their reply:

"Thank you for contacting Sprint. I understand your concern regarding
the price of HTC Touch on your account.

I see that you have purchased the phone on July 1, 2008. The retail
price this this phone was $499.99 at that time. You have received an
instant rebate of $150.00 on this phone and are eligible for a mail in
rebate of $100.00.

Now, the price has been revised on July 13, 2008 for all the this
phones. This price revision is not applicable for the phone purchased
before this date.

However, Looking upon the inconvenience in this regard, I discussed the
case with my supervisor and convinced her to apply a credit of $50.00 on
your account. This credit will be reflected on your next invoice.
Currently, there is a credit balance of $50.00 on your account. Thus,
the phone would finally cost $199.99 on your account. I appreciate your
understanding in this regard.

Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely, "

So I replied back:

"Unfortunately, your solution leaves me short $100.00.
I am within my first 30 days, so I think I am entitled to a full difference.

Here's the current deal you have in stores and on-line. It came out 12 days
after I signed up and purchased the phone. If 30 days had elapsed, I would
have been out of luck and your gesture would have been greatly appreciated, but that isn't the case now.

----------------------
Regular price $399.99
Instant savings -$200.00
Mail-in Rebate -$100.00
New price $99.99
----------------------

My cost, after all the rebates (instant and mail-in) ended up $249.99

New price is $99.99.

The difference is $150 + Tax.

That is the amount that I believe should be credited.
Alternatively, since I am within my 30 days, I can just return the entire
phone, cancel the Sprint plan and remain with Verizon.

I appreciate your understanding in this regard.

Thank you."

We'll see what happens next.... I hate to come off as a greedy bastard, but it is the principle of it.

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

I pretty much went through the same thing. they offered me $100 at first and told me I couldn't get the other $50 because the system wouldn't allow it. I wrote another email exactly like you did with itemized prices (good job), and she promptly gave me the other $50. I logged into my sprint account online and the money was already there. My credit is so big right now that I won't have a phone bill for about 5 months

I did remind them that most companies offer a "price protection" for undfer 30 days on most items. I don't know if that helped at all. I think you should be good by the third round of emails.

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

The original price of the phone was $549.99, not $499.99

$549.99
-$200.00 instant savings
-$100.00 mail in rebate

= 249.99

You are within the 30 day "risk free trial", just tell them you will cancel the account and return the phone if they don't credit the difference

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

I catch more flies with sugar than vinigar and find that saving threats about switching carriers to the last resort works best, especially when dealing with emails instead of live people.

If you come off as an arsehole in the email, you run the risk of the rep saying "F U" and letting you go. I have been very nice and thanked them for their time and gotten good results. Might be worth a try.

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

I don't believe I was rude or unreasonable in my request. The VERIZON comment was not a threat. It is a fact and an option I have. I havn't even ported my number yet. At no time was I disrespectfull or un-professional.

But I agree, an F.U. letter is always a possibility. That's then RETENTIONS comes in as a last resort.

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

I got mine as a free upgrade. It was a refurbished model and after rebate I think I might actually get a few bucks back.

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

They credited me $100 back. I'm going to be happy with that and not squabble about the extra $50.

When I purchased it, I was WILLING to pay what I paid at the time. I had the option of waiting around to see price drops when the new models coming, but I chose to pay the original listed price.

I'm thankful they gave the $100 credit. Shame I can't do this with GAS and stuff. LOL

Re: Htc Touch price drop..

Well, they saw it my way and credited me the full $150 difference today.
eCare is great!
Now, if their systems were not "going through upgrades", I would port my Verizon number over....
