Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
Now I know all you sprint folks have that lovely PPST which makes your GPS wicked fast. But it looks like all of the really neat and nice custom roms coming out lately are for Sprint.
So, other than the Kitchen, my question to all VZW users out there are: * Which custom roms have you been able to use * What adjustments have you made (if any) to get them up to snuff? * Which custom rom has worked the best for you? I'll start: I've loaded Dharvey's v1 rom. After that, I ran the verizon carrier cab from here: http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/carriers/ and then the Arcsoft 5.0.31 cab from here: http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/ArcsoftMMS/ Then I had to tweek the MMS settings. I followed the instructions from the first post (towards the bottom of the first post) here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30109 then I had to edit the registry following these instructions on the second post here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=28359 after that, it was free and clear. added the HTC customizer and that was about it. Pretty nice rom. NEXT! |

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
I really haven't run into many programs I can't run, just the ones proprietary to Sprint. Everything else I've tried has worked like a charm, given you take the time to configure them properly.
I didn't bother to look at your ROM but did you by chance go to the 3.42 radio? I noticed DRAMATIC improvements in my GPS once I switched to that radio. I lock a lot of satellites really fast now and it's only been that way since I swapped out the radio. I also used the BuildOS tool to build my own ROM (after upgrading my radio, I used the Vogue 3.02 GPS selections in BuildOS) - it worked surprisingly well and I'd suggest that tool to anyone who is intent on a lot of customization. It also can customize based on your carrier which is a plus for us Verizon folk. OMJ's stuff is really polished (plus the guy is really helpful) and I liked it a lot but his current maintained ROM, for now anyway, is all Sprint stuff (with no Verizon customizations) so I decided to cook up my own. I would have continued to use his, however, if he provided a Verizon flavor. Vogue GPS 3.02 and Build OS Thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26593 3.42 Radio Link and OMJ's Latest Kitchen: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=30332 Also, this link goes to the Arcsoft that I personally needed to get my MMS working (nothing else I tried working). If you run into the same problems as I did when building your own OS, or just another ROM, remove the previous Arcsoft (or build it without one) and install the Arcsoft from here: http://67.228.199.237/forum.ppcgeeks...25065&page=240 I'm going to attach a couple of cab's/hacks that I collected over the last few weeks of having this new phone, maybe they'll be as helpful to you as they were to me. (Sorry if I can't give original authors credit but these are from all over, and I don't take original credit for any of them) Last edited by fawkstrot; 07-09-2008 at 09:47 PM. |

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
What has helped me (on Verizon) the most is to follow this procedure:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...me=TitanGpsFix I now get locks a little bit faster, and to 10+ satellites at places where I used to get 6. |

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
So what does this Verizon Carrier .cab do?
"After that, I ran the verizon carrier cab from here: http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182/carriers/" |

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
You know, I'm not 100% sure, although if I had to guess, it installs and configures things that are specific to the carrier. Somewhere I saw these for the Apache, and it talked about data settings and what not.

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
I couldn't get this to work because the ##codes aren't working on my phone and I don't have a command line to start the dmrouter. I'd be interested in the steps to get it working as well.

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
What problems are you guys having?
All you need to do for this is download QPST. Then put your phone in DM mode by dialing ##3424 (then hit send). After that QPST should pick it up automatically (mine did). Then just pick up from those instructions where it says "Read from Phone" in that post. |

Re: Verizon Upgrade Love...where is it?
##3424 isn't working on DHarvey's image. And he even has a command prompt in there, but that's not working either how else can I diag?
