I really haven't run into many programs I can't run, just the ones proprietary to Sprint. Everything else I've tried has worked like a charm, given you take the time to configure them properly.
I didn't bother to look at your ROM but did you by chance go to the 3.42 radio? I noticed DRAMATIC improvements in my GPS once I switched to that radio. I lock a lot of satellites really fast now and it's only been that way since I swapped out the radio.
I also used the BuildOS tool to build my own ROM (after upgrading my radio, I used the Vogue 3.02 GPS selections in BuildOS) - it worked surprisingly well and I'd suggest that tool to anyone who is intent on a lot of customization. It also can customize based on your carrier which is a plus for us Verizon folk.
OMJ's stuff is really polished (plus the guy is really helpful) and I liked it a lot but his current maintained ROM, for now anyway, is all Sprint stuff (with no Verizon customizations) so I decided to cook up my own. I would have continued to use his, however, if he provided a Verizon flavor.

Also, this link goes to the Arcsoft that I personally needed to get my MMS working (nothing else I tried working). If you run into the same problems as I did when building your own OS, or just another ROM, remove the previous Arcsoft (or build it without one) and install the Arcsoft from here:

I'm going to attach a couple of cab's/hacks that I collected over the last few weeks of having this new phone, maybe they'll be as helpful to you as they were to me.
