I think the stickies are written the way they are because the vast majority of the people reading the upgrade forum were already running the Alltel radio and/or running custom ROMS. The installation checked my current load and it matched what it was looking for. I'm not sure if it would have completed if I hadn't been running the stock ROM. Sometimes vendor upgrades will give you a warning and let you complete it anyway at your own risk and sometimes they abort figuring you're trying to put the load on the wrong device and they need to protect you from yourself. Since duelingdragons is obviously running a stock ROM, I thought I'd suggest an easier way if he/she is on Sprint because those stickies are really intimidating for someone who is new to Windows Mobile (assumption here since he/she is asking for application advice).

Yes, that makes sense. Good observation.

Re: Just got my Touch in the mail.. what do I do first?! :)

Also one of the first things you will want to do it put on the screen protector because it WILL get scratched. Put it on in the bathroom while you have the shower on full blast with hot water to stream up the room which removes dust in the air. It really sucks when you get debris stuck behind your screen protector and you have to see it everyday.

I am seriously confused by this thread. Are you saying that by flashing the ROM, you get the GPS working. I didn't realise the HTC Touch had a GPS.

Yes thats exactly what it means. Or you can just wait till June 20th for the rumored "official" release.

Did I get this right - if starting from virgin Touch, no need to 2.31 unlock, just run leaked 3.02 upgrade, then follow #5-12 from the instructions above?
