Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing - Page 7

I haven't noticed any actual cracks on my white bell mobility touch BUT the paint definitely peeled off near the memory card slot within the first week or two of having it.

I think I might have some insight on this as to why some are cracking and others arn't. I purchased two of these at the same time and same place one has been cracked for almost a month the other is still good to go. The one that is cracked has vibrate on for both text messages and ringing. Because the phone is so light if you leave it on a desk or table when someone calls it almost always ends up on the floor. The phone that is perfect has never had vibrate on. I'm guessing at this point its a mix between a minor impact (Carpet fall) and the vibration that is causing the stress cracks. Thoughts??

hah mine cracked today too. errrr. time to downgrade spl and put verizon boot rom? i think 2 stores said they would replace entire phone versus just the casing which would suck since downgrading rom after gps upgrade is bad i hear.

Well my brother and i got our phones at the same time and while i am a guy who does not take care of his phone very well my brother is meticulous about it, and always kept his in the stupid neoprene case it came with and he had a crack within 2 weeks of having it.

I think its obvious that dropping the phone will cause damage but this happens even when it is used carefully in my experience.

Anyone w/ gps/rev a able to have theirs replaced? Just found a crack in mine after 2 weeks...AND a day after I upgraded to Dharveys black vista rom for Vzw

i had verizon insurance and just paid the 50$ to get it replaced. They seem to think its not an issue since not alot of people called them up and wont do it free. i told them the manufacturer knew about so they should too, bastards. next phone i get will be a sprint diamond and not a verizon

it's a manufacturer's defect and no one's holding vzw's feet to the fire? that's great if you have insurance and don't mind paying the $50. I personallyt think it's bs.

Its more of a general problem with the Touch, mine is white and its cracked in 2 places on the right side as shown in the pictures. I've been having trouble with mine freezing very often, so I got a replacement. Hopefully it won't happen again but I doubt it, I've also never dropped it as well :S

I agree.. I don't understand why they are not doing this for some people.
