If you soft reset and go straight to google maps do you get that behavior (or did you prime with something else first)? How is google maps setup, COM4 or Default settings? Did you change aGPS IP address in registry? What Provider are you on? Are you using KickStart or "1-2-3 Security Unlock Method"? I assume your using new DLL's, is GPSDaemaonServer running after boot? What Radio ROM and OS Rom you using? Sorry for the questions.

After soft reset it always happens. This always happens if I am at work too. So you can rule out googlemaps defaults to my house cuz its cached. I did not change nothing on googlemaps, I just start it and wait till I get a lock. Also.. AGPS does not immediately start when I do start google maps. I have to wait for gps to warm up. And right before the gps kiks in i get a lock but notice I have no sats on lock. Leading me to believe its AGPS. If I ext google and turn it on again it locks on fast but its always a mile off... with no sats locked. Then 5 seconds later i get my location like 3 feet away. Agps Ip adress was not touched on my Touch. lol. I am on Sprint. I am using Jd first release rom with GPS. Radio rom I did not change. I am not using kikstart, I do use Gps viewer but usually I just turn on google maps and gps eventually turns on. And nope, no new dll's. |

Re: More GPS observations
I think some people are getting agps and some arent because of your network...
Reason i say this is because when i am home down in NYC, my location starts off about a mile from where im at until i get a sat lock. When I am at school up in albany, this doesnt happen, im off the coast of africa until i get a sat lock. Also one way that i have been avoiding the gps getting "stuck" is by unchecking use gps in google maps or live search before exiting the program, it seems to help me out. |

I think Hotbyz may be right some of just don't get it (or perhaps as you noticed maybe the transition is very quick). I'll experiment with GPS Modes on my phone (Like run assist only) and my wifes Q9c which does lock extremely fast (same network) and gets like 10 sats very quickly every time. It may be just that it's a better sat receiver but I think her GPS assist is working. |

Re: More GPS observations
See the new thread I started http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25676
You MUST use GPSMode=4 to get the "assist" it may be baked into some cooked ROM's. |

Re: More GPS observations
I just started using gpstoday and it seems to be working well for me. I have it set on auto time for automatic turn on and get a new fix. It it's been awhile I'll put go to the gpstoday plugin turn it on and then go to goolge maps. Seems to work pretty quick.

Re: More GPS observations
aGPS is much more accurate then a mile... When I had aGPS on my sanyo 9000 (the 9k only had agps, no "real" gps at all) it was very accurate, within 10 yards.
What I believe your seeing isn't aGPS at all, but your getting a lock, on one or two satellites, and that is what is providing the inaccurate reading, even though google says its not connected to any satellites, its really impossible to tell how quickly, or accurately that number google displays really is. |

So in short, I believe certain networks support it and certain don't...it would certainly explain all the discrepancies between users here. |
