I am using JD rom on your tutorial page right now and I couldn't get Rev A. either. I have also loaded the sprint customization and still no luck. GPS is working but I would rather have Rev A right now...

Unfortunately no that will not restore it as allowing Alltel's customization to run will write a 2.01_001 PRI that is irreversible unless you revert back to the OEM ROM and reset the defaults in ##786#.

Also, the ROM I am using was removed from the FTP by JD. I can upload it to Megaupload.com if you like but I have to find it myself.

Ugh... that's some ugly customization. What about doing a hard reset then install the sprint Customization on top of the Alltel's Rom then reset the default with ##786#? If that work it would be quicker than reflashing the ROM multiple times...

About the upload I would appreciate it but no rush

Uploading it to Megaupload.com right now. It is really taking it's time because I have a free account and don't wanna pay for the higher speeds. I will update this post when the upload is finished.

EDIT:: Here is the ROM as promised. I have also included an RUU so you can just run the RomUpdateUtility.exe as long as you have already flashed the Alltel ROM and have the device unlocked with the 2.31.coke SPL.

Ironically, right after I got Rev A working for sure I took it and flashed the original OS back to it and relocked it. I took it up to a Sprint repair shop and told them about a bunch of problems that I never really had to get a brand new Touch. The only real problem with the phone was that the housing was cracked and the power button didn't work because I slipped on some ice and fell on it this past winter.

I'm amazed they actually replaced it but now I think I am going to wait for the official Rev A update from Sprint should they ever release it. There is just too much involved with getting Rev A on it right now and it is too unstable.

it's sad but sometimes you have to work around the system like that

it's good that you have a new phone though. I am going to wait for the official Rom as well. so far the Alltel's Rom does me alright.

I switch back to the Alltel since Rev A is more important to me... Everything is working fine and dandy expect for GPS that is. But that's not a real priority for me so I'll give all the update a rest for now and wait till all the bug work out. Perhaps I'll just wait until Sprint official Rom then start cooking my own.
