You should be fine. I have backed up my card (select all, copy and paste to Computer), format it and paste everything back and works just fine.

Re: 8 Gb Memory Card Question.....
you can do that with a non-PDA, that's the only way i can think of it, but it'll cost you everything in the card if ytou wanna take any chances.

use this software from here http://www.sdcard.org/about/downloads/sdfv2000.exe (they are the SD cards standard association) and they claim that formating storage cards the traditional way is not standard. use the software above on your computer to format your new SD card. Then copy all of your information to it.
You can also use the SD card as it comes from factory. they are preformatted already, and if not, then the device will format it for you automatically. (make sure you dont put anything on your new card until you tested it works with your device and have formatted the card to fit your need.). |

Re: 8 Gb Memory Card Question.....
I have used the Sandisk micro SDHC 8gb card without any issues now for over a month. Just play it safe and remember to turn off your Touch before removing/inserting the memory card. Also, on your PC, use the USB "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on your task bar prior to removing the card from a USB port; it will ensure you close all files and disable all port activity to the memory card.
Just be careful handling the memory card as well. Try not to touch the contacts or twist the body of the card (when extracting it from the card reader that's connect to your PC). |

Re: 8 Gb Memory Card Question.....
They are about $50 on ebay now, YMMV
Be warned I got one from "youpaylessla aka action169" and it failed at 1gb of transfering data using the usb micro sdhc reader it came with in my PC. Neither the touch or the PC could recognize the card after that no matter what I tried. I made 100% sure it wasn't me making a mistake by using other card readers and devices that should be able to read it, to no avail. I returned it to the vendor, just for him to claim it is working and charged me another $5 to send it back.. Still waiting for the reship. Next step if it doesn't work right is to contact the manufacturer for warranty (Sandisk). The vendor does claim it to be 100% authentic. I am hoping that's true. Personally I would look into buying from someone that others have tried and be sure you have some kind of return policy. In the end the time, costs and ordeal may not be worth the "savings". In fairness, this may have something to do with the problem of corrupt SD cards on the Touch or may not.. All my other cards still work well. -CC P.S. My item came in an original retail package (which can be counterfeited as well) with casing, key ring tie and black/orange usb reader. With a CD adapter separately. ![]() Last edited by clockcycle; 04-03-2008 at 02:41 PM. |
