Activate Sprint phone on Verizon, Altell, etc... Network.
I will detail the instructions on how to modify your phone to work on other carrier's networks here for you as I have already done it with my Sprint Touch.
Here is what you need to do: 1. Download GetSPC(attached below) 2. Unzip to desktop 3. Turn off phone and remove battery. 4. Write down your HEX ESN 5. Power your device back on 6. Connect via ActiveSync or WMDC 7. Copy entire folder to main memory on device. 8. Run GetSPC.exe 9. In the top box type in your HEX ESN(make sure caps is on) 10. Click generate or whatever the button is named 11. The resulting number should be a 6 digit number, your MSL, write it down. 12. Search for, download and install Qualcomm's QPST tool.(not freeware) THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE VERY DANGEROUS SO MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW MY DIRECTIONS EXACTLY. 13. Run QPST Configuration(run as admin if Vista) 14. From the Dialpad, dial ##3424#(##diag#) 15. Connect device to computer via USB(this will install drivers) 16. In QPST Configuration, click ports. 17. Continue to add ports until the QPST Configuration detects your phone 18. Under active phones it should display your phone. 19. Click Start Clients/Service Programming 20. Select phone and click ok. DO NOT LEAVE FIRST TAB, THE SETTINGS TAB. THIS IS THE ONLY TAB WE WILL NEED TO CHANGE ANY SETTINGS 21. Under the settings tab, click Read from phone. 22. Input your MSL you got from GetSPC earlier. 23. Under codes where it says Service Programming, change this to 000000 24. Click Write to Phone 25. Wait 1 minute 26. Close Qualcomm QPST one window at a time. 27. Disconnect the USB cable from your device 28. Perform Soft reset once 29. Test new MSL(##000000#) 30. If new code does not go through, hard reset. 31. Depending on what device you have, follow the necessary steps to unlock your phone so you can flash a new ROM to it. 32. Install OEM ROM from carrier of choice or build your own custom ROM using the new carrier's information. 33. Follow instructions to flash new OS to device. 34. Call service provider and do some sweet talking to get them to activate the phone on their network. You may need to do some serious sweet talking because Sprint ESNs are not in Verizon's database and vice versa. This goes for all CDMA carriers. I believe that is it in a nutshell. If I missed anything let me know. Here is another thread that has some more information. Not sure if all is required but if I missed something you may find it in here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...change+carrier

Re: Activate Sprint phone on Verizon, Altell, etc... Network.
Seems like alot of steps that aren't needed.
This is all you need to do really; First check with the carrier you intend on using your phone on to see if they can and will accept it. Call Sprint, ask them for your MSL, they will ask you for the ESN. You can play this sneaky if you want but don't need to, by telling them you needed to manually program your MSID and MDN but need the 6 digit code MSL.. YMMV, remember Sprint got sued and lost, they have to provide you with the MSL.. Go here http://www.corolada.com/prl/ and download the latest PRL for the carrier you are wanting to use. Copy this to the phone (device). Type ##PRL# on the phone's dial pad, enter the MSL and choose to edit the prl, choose load, it will look on your device for available prls, load it up let it do it's thing, reset the phone. Type ##PST#, edit, enter MSL, look for SID/NID.. Edit those to the appropriate settings for your new carrier. You can go here http://www.rainyday.ca/~dialtone/ to look up the PRL interpretations. Using search and find, look for the city you're in for the SID (tower #) in your area and enter it if you don't know it. Call provider give them the info they need and follow their instructions on reprogramming your phone. Usually ##MSL# (Your MSL) then you can edit the MSID MDN.. *228 should work now, you may have to try *228xx (00-99) combination to get your carrier's activation team if you didn't get the SID right. Your phone should work from there.. If you want to further customize or use the carrier's rom for the same device, if there is one available. You can just unlock the phone and load up that carrier's rom for your particular phone. To get features working for that carrier.. Another thing to take into mind is that you become your own tech support for any issues with your phone. goodluck, -CC P.S. thought comes to mind with this, getting EVDO to work on another carrier is gonna be a |

You would need to flash a Verizon Wireless ROM. The only problem is that there is no Verizon ROM yet as the Verizon XV6900 has not been released yet. |

Re: Activate Sprint phone on Verizon, Altell, etc... Network.
is it possible to have two phones with the same esn and have them both work? i guess you would call it cloning, i have a touch and a mogul, and only my touh is activated, id like to have both of them with the same phone number and such.

I think I pretty much have it figured out but regardless of what I do to my phone, in the end it will all be up to Verizon whether or not I will actually be able to do it. I think a high enough rate plan would be enough to sway them. |

What OS does your computer have? If you have Vista, it will install the drivers automatically.
