Voicemail: 1 Unread

are there are programs available that i can place on my homescreen which will give me an accurate number for the amount of voicemails i have? The base voicemail notification either says i have no voicemails or one voicemail (even if i in fact have 5). Im not asking for something as groundbreaking as visual voicemail ala the iPhone, but i am looking for something that will tell me that i have 3 voicemails when i in fact have 3 voicemails. Any help? Thanks!

i was trying to figure this out just briefly, and i will tell you that the problem could be on the sprint side not sending the updated count.. the reason i say this is if you look at:

HKCU\System\State\Messages\vmail\total\Unread

you'll see it only shows 1 for Count.. no hack or program will fix the problem. like i said i think it's sprint at fault for not sending a ping to the phone each time a new mail is left.

there is the small possibility i could be wrong..

Correct. Devices on the Sprint network will show 1 voicemail regardless of the actual amount you have.

I thought this was true of all CDMA carriers? Do you get an accurate voicemail count with Verizon?

Voicemail count on USCC was always "sometimey" at best. Heck a lot of times it would be hours or days before it would let you know you even had 1 voicemail.

As said earlier, it's a known limitation of CDMA.

so they way i feel about it is... it doesn't matter how many my phone says i have because if i have 1 i am going to call and check my voice mail, so if i have more i will find out quickly. plus i usually only have one any way because i delete every message right after i listen to it anyway...

im pretty sure it's not a limitation of CDMA. the problem is windows mobile doesn't poll the tower to get updated count, it just polls to check if there are any unread (true=1 false=0) all my other sprint phone (non-window mobile) show accurate message count for voicemail.. plus its more typical to blame MS and not the carrier

It is not window mobile because my wifes non windows sprint phone (Sanyo SCP8400)does same thing. I had call sprint about that before. I was told it defaults a 1 call and you have to check and clear calls to see how many calls in phone. Thats just the way sprint has it set up. Nextel was the same way when I was with them.

lol..this always pissed me off...lol...and it says "1 unread"....im not reading anything....im listening! should'nt it say "1 unlistened to"? hahahha.....
