Re: i realized how much i love my touch after buying an iphone.
My beef with Apple is this:
1. Their interface is easier not b/c it's better but b/c it lacks features. It's stripped down and dumbed down. That's why it looks easier.
2. Their refusal to include a keyboard is dumb or even more than one button. Tell me how having dedicated call/end buttons and a d-pad would confuse the consumer or take away from the multi-touch concept? I think it's just stubborness.
3. Their hardware is often good but much of it is advertising. They are saying now they're going to add cut and paste as if it is a nice feature that they are kindly adding on. Cut and paste should be standard. It's the way they spin things. They're great salesman and great at industrial design, but it's their advertisers that should get the kudos.
4. They operate on a closed system. The official line is that the more people they allow to program, the more that bugs can be introduced. In other words, they know better than us plebians. This is the reason I can't support the iPhone. The software community is moving towards open source and they are not. They charge for a google maps upgrade to the iphone, which they have every right to do. Unfortunately, their competitors don't do that. Does MSN Live search mobile charge? Isn't google maps free? Doesn't outlook come with a pocket pc phone? Their policies aren't very customer-friendly or loyalty-inducing.
